Then I have spare of this. Turquoisey label. I'll dig it out. Phil
  2. The thing that James should have actually done (only IMO), is ask him if he wouldn't mind stopping the record because the quality sounded none too good. And then given him his orginal acetate to play. That's what I would have done. And, as a bonus, if he needed to get the crowd warmed up to him he could have asked said DJ to say "this track courtesy of James Trouble, who'll be on later". Phil

What's the other side of it? Cheers Phil
  4. I feel like I've gone through a 30 year timewarp. But I'm still a fat get and my hair's not grown back. This is a debate (originals / bootlegs) that will rage as long as people remember what a record is. I don't know either of the the people involved but it does sound like someone's trying to wind someone up big time. Phil
  5. Have a good time, and don't be listening to no choons what ain't on the "list" PC Dick
  6. Whatever you want it to. It's magic.
  7. Yeah. But you're older than me and you have a chicken for an avatar so your reply doesn't count PC Dick of the Soul Police
  8. I have spares for sale of most of the variations of each of the three Sliced Tomatoes releases. I also have QC test pressings of many Music Merchant / Invictus / Hot Wax numbers, including unreleased ones. They are available for sale too. In fact any of my records are available for sale for the right price. Phil
  9. Not a wind up at all. His self-belief (egotism?) was resonsible for (still) one of the best venues of all time both for sounds played and atmosphere. Yes there was some rubbish played from time to time (true of every venue I've ever been to), there were unsavoury elements there from time to time too (but we all can change ). If individual elements of "what makes a great venue" were looked at in isolation, then The Casino would not come top in all of them or even many. But when looked at as a whole The Casino wins hands down. And for his involvement in that iconic, magical part of Northern Soul history he gets my vote. Phil
  10. Well I certainly am. But I've had some good company over the years
  11. I've got one (T7MLA) - sad I know. But I'm going to give it to my daughter Tamla when she gets her first car.
  12. I will swap my copy for a Free Angela LP. Does anyone have one for a swap? Phil
  13. I have an orange issue available to a good home. PM offers if interested. Phil
  14. Got mine for £6.00 off one of Pat Brady's sales tapes (used to love them dropping through the door each week or so) in about '86. I am surprised though that it would fetch £100 or more nowadays.

  16. That's £2100 more than I paid for the rights to both the Jimmy Burns and Bobby James (including master tapes and a vinyl copy of each) Inflation ......
  17. Nah. It's all water under the bridge now. The old chemically induced fervour used to make for some interesting nights in the 70's & 80's
  18. The only thing we didn't provide was chicken in a basket
  19. Excellent band, done loads of wonderful tunes. I remember me & Crofty losing a fortune when we put 'em on at Hinckley Lesiure Centre. A douibly memorable night for me that was. A well known member of the scene at the time stuck a pistol in my face in the car park and threatened to kill me. Ah, them were't days Phil
  20. I used to play this at Bradford Queens Hall & Leeds Astoria c1989. A few others used to play it back then too. Is it worth more than £20 these days? Phil
