  1. When you say top dollar, what do you mean?
  2. Thank you. Would you like me to unsubscribe from Soul Source too? Happy to help
  3. Sorry Ken. I forgot that cos I don't go anywhere anymore I'm not entitled to an opinion. The 21st century is my version of the "stay at home 80's". I'll try not to post in topics that I don't concern me anymore.
  4. Just scroll up mate. Both AndyK123 and mischief in earlier posts said it was "a shame not to be able to play it out" and "guess it's one for home then" Phil
  5. I apologise for any and all of my posts. I have no paranoia about phantom "Soul Police" or anything else for that matter. I never said don't play it. My view is definitely play it. I just get frustrated as to why anyione would think it was not OK to play it.
  6. My apologies for introducing the Soul Police into this thread it was entirely inapproriate and i will now remove my post. i just get a little frustrated as to ther narrow-mindedness (only in my perception, of course) of some people. I still firmly believe that to decide not to play any track out because it didn't have a legitmate label release is nuts. Particularly when other tracks are "OK". On a slightly different topic, but related. I also believe that it's equally nuts for it not to be OK to play a track on CD that only got a legitimate release on CD, but it is OK to play a vinyl carver of it. Maybe it's just me
  7. huh huh
  8. Don't have a clue who Tweedle Dum is. You? No the other leg comes in useful too. you simply sew up the narrow end, then when someone annoys you too much, then wide end over the 'ead, bit of gaffer tape. In the boot of the car and off to ilkley moor we go. Baht 'at of course (might stand out otherwise). Ah nostalgia .....
  9. I'm a 4th type - An MP3 of a tailor made track - I used to be active on the scene, am not any longer, still collect to a certain extent, have no idea about the current big tracks, what stuff is worth, who's in vogue or not (and don't care). Still love the music and always will but I couldn't care less about the rest of it really. Phil
  10. How long ago?
  11. I have one (EX condition). I don't know what the going rate is though. Anyone? Phil
  12. Mine is on dark blue Philips and actually doesn't list country of origin at all. Always assumed it was from Oz as I bought it with a load of other Oz 45's. Phil
  13. I think people should wear what they want. Never understood people slagging folks off for what they wear etc. I never had a problem with 43" baggies. In fact the trouser bottoms fit nicely round my waist these days Phil
  14. A couple of more all-niters me & Crofty ran in the 80's - Thompson Centre, Burnley & Festival Hall, Bolton Phil
  15. The 80's were absolutely wonderful times for the Northern scene. Some of the top sounds EVER were brought to the fore in the 80's. Great people, great music, great venues. I wish I was that "lost" again. Don't think I'd have the energy these days though. Phil
  16. UK Tamla Motown STML11144 album wanted. Must be in reasonable condition, particularly the sleeve. Cheers Phil
  17. Great! And I have a spare for sale Phil
  18. Very sad news indeed. I've not seen her for many a year. My sincere condolences to her family. Phil
  19. I have it on Aussie Philips. Very nice looking thing it is too. And, as with all my records these days, available to a good home for a good price. Phil
  20. Phild

    Wanted

I have a Carrolls on Polydor available. What's it go for? Phil
  21. 16 year olds should be doing their homework, revising for their GCSE's or learning Polish or Mandarin on a weekend. Never mind going to soul nights, all-niters & the like. I wouldn't have wanted to go out with my mum & dad, their mates or people their age when I was 16. Maybe there's room for a junior Northern Soul scene?
  22. Blimey. I sold this to a fellow sourcer a couple weeks ago for £125! I thought I'd done well at that. Phil
  23. Is it just me? But I don't understand the whole "carver" thing. If you don't have the original and just want to listen to the tune then what's wrong with having it on tape / CD/ mp3 etc etc? In fact what's wrong with playing MP3's at do's? Collecting I understand and have done a little bit of collecting myself. but in a club the punters just want to hera the sounds mostly. If this attituide were adopted then more proficient DJ's (ie people who know how to DJ properly and perhaps do it professionally) would rise to the top thereby giving a more entertaining night to the paying punter. Rather than (nowadays) people who can afford to buy the latest pseudo inflated "must have" rarity. Just my opinion. Phil
  24. You're not alone mate. I never understood the northern soul scene when I was on it, nor even particularly liked it much either. Always loved the music though. Phil
