  1. I sincerely hope not . I am just busting with anticipation at it coming out.
  2. Don't know that particular church. A portion of my income from whatever source, however, does go to my church.
  3. We're certainly going to give it a try
  4. The buzz will be even bigger once these babies hit the street The combination of the fantastic track together with the wonderful label design will be irresistible.
  5. I had some great stuff off Mr Battinich @ Dugout over the years. I got 2 copies of Vel-Vets off him at the same time as The Classics (I think he got more than the one copy) together with the Servicemen - Sweet Magic, which went to Andy Dyson. Franks used to be on W.63rd too, opposite side of the road to Record Dugout but only about 300 yards further down the road toward the airport. last time I went there was around '94 I think. When on a buying trip with Pat Brady (the '94 trip I think) we got The Poets on J-2 out of Franks. Phil
  6. Thanks Bob. You're a fount of knowledge when it comes to Chicago stuff. I've got the Yan-G record, and have had it a total of 3 times. Many years ago now, once from a guy called Art morales (now sadly dead), once from Record Dugout on W.63rd (I think that came from Phil orsi) and the other one just across the road at Frank's Records. Wish I'd kept 'em all Phil
  7. Thanks for the info Bob. I thought so. was Yan-G one of Phil orsi's labels? I haven't come across this before, and i've been to Chicago many, many times buying records and had "most" of the stuff out of there at one time or another. Is it particluarly rare, obscure? Or have I just managed to miss it? Thanks Phil
  8. Here are both sides ... The_Classics___Looking_For_A_Love__of_my_own____Wide_World_62767_A.mp3 The_Classics___I_m_Jimmy_Mack___Wide_World_62767_B.mp3
  9. That's the one deffo! maybe the other mix as a B side ?
  10. The Classics - Looking For A Love Of My Own / I'm Jimmy Mack - Wide World Just got this through the door today, bought blind off ebay recently. Does anyone have info about it? I'm Jimmy Mack has the same backing as Tommy Scott - Pain Reliever on (sister label) Wise World. Looking .... is a beautiful mid-tempo track. Both sides produced by Eddie Silvers and has a typical Chicago production & arrangement. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks Phil
  11. Absolutely agree! but all in good time
  12. I tried to create a new label with a complimentary nod to our "Proud Soul heritage" If you want to knock one up for us for free Roger just let me know and I'll get the Photoshop files across to you. Cheers Phil
  13. It is that's where I'm from
  14. Being born again doesn't stop me being a tw*t. Just ask my wife
  15. It is. As I said, I was involved for the first 10 releases (up to SC131 I think). All was legit up to then. Beyond that I can't say. Phil
  16. Do you prefer this label design then? It's only on a few promo's though, so you won't likely to be able to get one. But some folks on here will. Phil
  17. Even worse - I have a Huddersfield Town sticker on my back window
  18. I'm a saddo as well. I have T7MLA with false screws & stuff to make it look more like TAMLA Phil
  19. It must have been. I cannot speak for any beyond the ones I had involvement with. As I said, I was only involved in the first 10 and they were all licensed and paid for. I remember us wiring $$$ very urgently to Eddie Singleton (obviously for the Shrine releases) who was in Sun City at the time We got Dave's blessing to use the label name and design (he was even credited on the label). There have been many releases after those first 10, and the project lost its way for me after those. The vision was for high-quality, limited edition fully legal 7" vinyl releases, not for (as it became) a general reissue label with loads of releases. Phil
  20. When you say "my licensing procedures" what particularly are you referring to? For every track that I was personally involved with licensing, I still have copies of the signed contracts. Each license holder was paid an advance (in a couple of cases over $1000.00). The records (I can only speak for the first 10 releases, because after that my involvement ceased) were limited edition releases of only 500 copies, MCPS were also paid. Phil
  21. Alan Klein is in a slumber from which he could never be roused. But even if he were then there is nothing for him to be litigious with us about. None of his trademarks, copyrights etc have been infringed in any way shape or form. As for Dave Godin and Soul City. Well, when I was involved which was with only the first 10 releases, for which we had his full blessing. For those who remember when we launched the label at the Fleetwood weekender Dave actually sat on our tabel and signed records for people. So if he had any problem with it he certainly never mentioned it to me. Phil
  22. Hi Steve, I don't see why this should cause people problems. We have researched this fully and taken professional advice, and our use of the design is perfectly legal. The label design (unlike the logo) is fully unencumbered, and we hope to (after a fair period of use) be able to trademark it's use ourselves. There is no such thing label artist royalties. If there were we would have paid them. But there isn't. Just like when I was involved with the reactivated Soul City some 10 years ago, We used not onl;y the label design, but also the logo. There were no label artist royalties to pay. As a courtesy we infomed Dave Godin what we were doing and got his blessing. Cheers Phil
  23. Sorry for the delay in answering. Only just got back online. I don't know what point you're trying to make, but resorting to making fun of me because of my faith is a little low, don't you think? The label is very reminiscent of Parkway, yes. The answer to your questions is utterly simple. This is 100% legal in every single way, everything is fully licensed. EVERYONE is getting paid, right down to Isaac Hayes estate (via MCPS). Phil
  24. No. 100% to Isaac Hayes estate (I hope). The copyright in the Cafe Regio's tune resides with Universal Music Publishing, who will be paid via MCPS a %age of every copy pressed (whether sold or not) Phil
