  1. Without a shadow of a doubt Phil
  2. Court Davis now sorted
  3. SC is sheer soul perfection. There are a couple of more recent interpretations that also hit the spot for me. One by Lauryn Hil. The other by The Gospel phil
  4. No. Not aware of problems with any Ebay seller. Just that I have seen the light and Ebay is no longer the way to buy records for me. Phil
  5. Couple more added. Please PM with price & condition if you have any of them. Thanks Phil
  6. Being totally honest, I only go to certain venues to flyer for my own event. And to others to hear great music and have a good time. I've been to some great events recently though with brill tunes. Phil
  7. Yes. I rarely DJ anywhere apart from my own infrequent nights these days, and do enjoy going out and about. Though I don't go out as much as I used to. Phil
  8. Thanks. I normally win by just putting in a series of ever increasing bids. I win some and lose some. I'll give it a go. Phil
  9. Couple of wants. please PM with price and condition. Court Davis - The Lover Who Loves You Not The Poets - Wrapped Around Your Finger Don Gardner - Cheating Kind Trends - Thanks For A Little Lovin' Cheers Phil
  10. I would quite like it, but I won't be winning it. I've taken some wise advice and now am not bidding on Ebay. I was gonna go up to $5k ish on this but no more. Thankfully my "test" bid of $3888 has now been beat. I'll stick to "proper" sources from now on. No point paying over the odds any more. Phil
  11. Actually you're right. No point paying over the odds if not needed. I just hate losing. Phil
  12. Maybe so for some. But, speaking just for myself, I like to put a reasonable bid in early just to see how far to push. It gives some ida of how much it may go to. Not sure if I'm "that" interested in this one. I know it's rarer than the Ray Pollard I won recently (which is actually in beautiful nick BTW ) but I'll deffo be going to $5k or so. Phil
  13. My current will specifies that my records get destroyed. However, I am thinking of changing it. It would be quite nice instead to have them distributed throughout various charity shops, and think of the glee on peoples faces as they find a bargain. Phil
  14. and Darrow Flether - "Little Girl", flip to "What Good Am I ..." (Jacklyn 1006). Another stunner. Phil
  15. Brothers Of Soul - "The Love I Found In You", Flip to "Come On Back" (Boo 1005). Absolutely awesome! Phil
  16. Whatever, but like I said value is in the eye of the buyer. And to me this time this record was worth, to me only, what I paid for it.
  17. Are most deals done privately? Not for me they're aren't, most of my buys are done through Ebay. I've never really had much of a clue what records are "worth". I sold large chunks of my collection 12 years or so ago to keep my head above water, and stop the house from being repo'd (again). Since things have got a bit better, I've been on a mission the last couple of years to get back every record I sold, and bar one or two I've done it. I'm now on a mission to get every record I ever wanted and the Ray Pollard is one of those that was near the top of that list. Surely a record's "true" value is what someone will pay for it? Not that it matters to me. Unless I hit really hard times again my records will be with me until the end. Phil
  18. It's a record that has some meaning for me and I never owned it before always missed out, didn't hVe enough dish or didn't bid quite enough so this time I was determined to get it so tried and won. I wouldn't have paid whatever it took though. If it had gone over $5k I'd have been stuffed
  19. Feel equally free to send me your sales list. Thing is I wanted it, I wanted it now so I got it. What's the problem?
  20. that's me
  21. Must be VG or better. PM with details. Cheers Phil

  23. I agree. It's all too easy to not see the value of something that you've made, or been involved with. I remember a few years ago binning a load of Soul City label test presses. Chris (King) and I had put a few double sider test presses (best side of 2 releases per 45) together to give to DJ's etc to promote the "new" label. I had a fair few left and they didn't fit neatly into the record filing system, so they were moved around from one shelf to another until one day I just thought they were in the way and binned the lot. Phil
