  1. Is that what is known as irony?
  2. I have licensed some great unissued stuff from him already. That was part of how he "refunded" me. Phil
  3. He has "repaid" me. Even though the records i sent him back via International Recorded apparently never arrived. He insists that the ones he sold me were the originals and the other ones from the 60's were the bootlegs. They are very good repro's (see photo). The only difference is the run out groove is different size I was charged 2 different prices for the two i had. One for a really good copy, one for a copy in not as good shape. The only difference between the two (which were to all intents and purposes brand new) was that one had tea stains on it and looked like it had hoover dust rubbed on it. Phil
  4. I likr the Covers 33 ones as well. Just bought another 500 last week. However, doers anyone know where to get the paper inner sleeves from these days. Covers 33 don't seem to do them. I want green ones if poss. Cheers Phil
  5. Sam's Jams. Great store. Fond memories of great record finds. Best Regards Phil
  6. One of my best finds was in a shop in Ferndale near Detroit. I arrived full of beans at the shop, only to find Gilly, Tats and (I think) Rob Wigley happily paying for their purchases. I was a little disheartened but had a bit of a mooch anyway in the 25 cent bins full of records without sleeves. I found a right load of stuff in that bin including Danny Moore, which was at that time still riduclously rare. Sold it for over a grand - result! Phil
  7. Blenders - Your Love Has Got Me Down Sheer class! Phil
  8. Just listened to the re-edit for approval. It is phenomenal! It will receive it's world debut at Dewsbury Town Hall, may 1st. Will have to be off a carver as we won't have test presses in time. I'm overwhelmed listening to it. Phil
  9. This can and does happen. On our license agreement from the guy who wrote and produced it, and the master it says "Love Enough To Care" Phil

  18. Lovely fella. I got my last few missing TMG numbers off him. Phil
  19. Is he called Jeff? Phil
  20. True. But I'm sure it's a commercial venture with nthe intention that, amongst other things, it makes some money. That being the case they would want to either aim it at a specific subgroup who would definitely go and see it. IE Northern Soul fans. Given the vitriol ezpressed on here I can see that ever being a winner. Alternatively they would want to appeal to as many people as possible by making a formulaic (eg boy meets girl etc) film, with an interesting backdrop (no pun intended) that hasn't been overdone. Hence using the Northern scene as that backdrop. I couldn't comment on that, other than the mod "revival" seemed to me to have little to do with the original mod scene of the 1960's, in that it was different music on the whole and the original mod scene was about having the latest, greatest and up to datest. Wheras the revival was all about the exact opposite. As I mentioned earlier I don't see how new blood, in any kind of numbers, would prolong this scene. They would just create a new revival version of it. Maybe with new wave Northern Soul groups and a 21st century northern soul version of Paul Weller. Perish the thought. Phil
  21. But YOU don't have to think of it as entertainment. It's not aimed at you, or me for that matter. Well no more than that maybe we're part of the British cinema-going or video-buying public. I don't know why some do desperately crave young blood on the scene. they're never going to come. Not in numbers that will ever make any real impact anyway. And even if they do they won't "keep the flame alive" they'll just adapt and mould it into something different. More in keeping with their own, values, mores, desires and experiences. The odd one or two do "get it" and fit into the scene. Most wouldn't. How could they|? They weren't born in the 50's & 60's like us so they can't share our experiences. To them it will only ever be something other than what it was or is. Just like some kids on our estate were into rock & roll, even wearing beetlecrushers and having their hair done in a D.A. At the end of the day it is MEANT as entertainment. Pure and simple. Phil
  22. It's a film. Meant to be entertainment, pure and simple. It will either be good or it won't. Either way it won't change the world. Why some folks get so het up about it all is totally beyond me. Phil
  23. I did that. 1 and 2 and out. Then dried with a lint free cloth. Was fine the first few times then that happened. Gutted, it won't play at all now I quite like it, but it had bad background noise for a bout 3/4 of the record then totally clear. It had some stuff spilled on it. Lucky it's not an expensive 45. Phil
  24. The Programme was Derek Jameson's People. Went out on BBC1 on a Tuesday night at 7pm sometime in, I think, April 1989. The segment I was in was called "Lucy Pilkington At large". If anyone has a copy of it, can they send it me? Cheers Phil
