  1. Don't know which Phil this is meant for? But I have - several records that should never have gone near a turntable. Profiles - Tale A Giant Step for one
  2. £9.99 retail
  3. Here's a listing for the boot from Popsike https://www.popsike.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-GLORIA-JONES-GONE-WITH-THE-WIND-IS-MY-LOVE/120878343986.html Makes me larf! Only 100 copies pressed! Fecking instantly rare new release bootlegs now. Whatever next?
  4. Yes. I got a copy from a member on here. I'll post it shortly. I know who did it, but don't have quite enough evidence for the courts ..... Yet.
  5. There is a market for vinyl releases. This genre of music when played out to an audience is primarily played on vinyl. Most do's don't have CD players.
  6. You need to sell a lot less copies of a boot than you do a legit release, that's for sure. I recently released Gloria Jones version of GWTWIML and paid a fortune for the rights, pressing etc etc only to have some cnut bootleg it before my copies even left the pressing plant. Pisses you right off.
  7. I've tried to do that several times with both soul nights and all-niters, but consistently lost money due to poor attendances. People say they want it but don't support venues that provide it.

OK. But that's as a specialist thing not the norm. Personally, when I used to some radio shows it was OVO (or OCDO ) all the way. But it doesnt really matter.

I agree 100%. The genie is out of the bottle. The more tracks from our genre that get played on radio (internet or otherwise) the better. It matters not one iota what format they're on. OVO radio? Not since the 1960's I would think. maybe a chance of introducing nw ears to the sounds. Bring it on!
  10. Hi Trev, Actually Bobby James doesn't own the rights to either Jimmy Burns or even his own version. The rights belong to Clarence Johnson (well his estate now) and I did a long term license deal with Clarence many years ago for UK and EU rights. Many artists "think" they own the rights to their songs, but in most cases sadly they don't. Cheers Phil

Best not, if its all the same to you
  14. The world's full of vested interests. And my vest has a big fist on the front and it says "Keep The Faith"
  15. You definitely have to buy the 45 for two reasons. 1. You can't play a CD on a Technics SL1200 2. I won't make any money if you don't buy the 45 Phil

There are.But the venues that do "keep the faith" are usually not very busy which sometimes makes for a lack of atmosphere. Also, I find that a lot of right minded venues won't play classy oldies either. I like a good mix of old (not overplayed BTW) and new, just so long as its on original vinyl.

Sadly all too true. I too am very disillusioned with the scene at present (again), precisely because of this. I love oldies too but can't bear it when people play them on bootlegs. If you have to play bootlegs, don't play at all.
  18. Thanks for the offer, it is highly appreciated and exceptionally good value. But my usual "man" knows just how much starch to put in my collars, and exactly what to pack for an expedition.
  19. Do they have first class hotels in Prestatyn?
  20. Well that's it, no weekenders for me then. I consider Premier Inn to be slumming it
  21. I've never been to a weekender. I may be tempted by this one. Do they have any "good" accomodation onsite?
  22. Not seen a PM from you mate ???
