  1. I agree. I used to play this at Bradford Bensons Bier keller soul nights back as early as 1984 and have played it from time to time ever since. Just because a record is now in vogue doesn't mean it isn't / wasn't known or played before.
  2. I agree. In short - Northern Soul!
  3. The recent (well many years now) trend of promoting sub-genres has been a very negative thing IMO, and has been nothing but divisive. As Barry said bitd it was all just Northern.Northen Soul is a genre whther some people like it or not. Yes it is (or more probably was) a dance scene but it was always a genre too. As in whenever asked what music I was into I would, and still do, proudly say Northern Soul. Phil
  4. Anything on this weekend? Phil
  5. I "may" have a spare of this somewhere. What is it actually going for?

  7. Its a buyers market. You sold your records for what someone was willing to pay, and you must have been happy with the deal or you wouldn't have done it. There are people out there with the funds to part with whatever it takes to get the record that they want. I myself have on occasion paid over the odds for tunes I really, really wanted and I'm not the only one.
  8. You could be right. I haven't had chance to search through the shelves and boxes as yet.
  9. It is indeed plus one on the same lable under his own name. I'll dig it out later
  10. I have a couple of later 12" singles done by Roger.
  11. Do you still need this? If so, I'll pop home at lunchtime and do it. Cheers Phil
  12. Should be compulsory
  13. Nice price
  14. Don't know which Phil this is meant for? But I have - several records that should never have gone near a turntable. Profiles - Tale A Giant Step for one
  15. Here's a listing for the boot from Popsike https://www.popsike.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-GLORIA-JONES-GONE-WITH-THE-WIND-IS-MY-LOVE/120878343986.html Makes me larf! Only 100 copies pressed! Fecking instantly rare new release bootlegs now. Whatever next?
  16. Yes. I got a copy from a member on here. I'll post it shortly. I know who did it, but don't have quite enough evidence for the courts ..... Yet.
  17. There is a market for vinyl releases. This genre of music when played out to an audience is primarily played on vinyl. Most do's don't have CD players.
  18. You need to sell a lot less copies of a boot than you do a legit release, that's for sure. I recently released Gloria Jones version of GWTWIML and paid a fortune for the rights, pressing etc etc only to have some cnut bootleg it before my copies even left the pressing plant. Pisses you right off.
  19. I've tried to do that several times with both soul nights and all-niters, but consistently lost money due to poor attendances. People say they want it but don't support venues that provide it.
  20. OK. But that's as a specialist thing not the norm. Personally, when I used to some radio shows it was OVO (or OCDO ) all the way. But it doesnt really matter.
  21. I agree 100%. The genie is out of the bottle. The more tracks from our genre that get played on radio (internet or otherwise) the better. It matters not one iota what format they're on. OVO radio? Not since the 1960's I would think. maybe a chance of introducing nw ears to the sounds. Bring it on!
  22. Hi Trev, Actually Bobby James doesn't own the rights to either Jimmy Burns or even his own version. The rights belong to Clarence Johnson (well his estate now) and I did a long term license deal with Clarence many years ago for UK and EU rights. Many artists "think" they own the rights to their songs, but in most cases sadly they don't. Cheers Phil
