The Gospel According Too Dave Godin By Pete Lawson
Excellent! Remember them at the time, think I've still got Issue 1 somewhere. In which I'm proud to feature in two of the charts - "Best Downers" and "People Who Know Nothing About Records" Quality!

Dee Dee Warwick Worth Every Tear I Cry
I agree. I used to play this at Bradford Bensons Bier keller soul nights back as early as 1984 and have played it from time to time ever since. Just because a record is now in vogue doesn't mean it isn't / wasn't known or played before.

On Today's Soul/nighter Scene
I agree. In short - Northern Soul!

On Today's Soul/nighter Scene
The recent (well many years now) trend of promoting sub-genres has been a very negative thing IMO, and has been nothing but divisive. As Barry said bitd it was all just Northern.Northen Soul is a genre whther some people like it or not. Yes it is (or more probably was) a dance scene but it was always a genre too. As in whenever asked what music I was into I would, and still do, proudly say Northern Soul. Phil

Donna King And The Jades
Its a buyers market. You sold your records for what someone was willing to pay, and you must have been happy with the deal or you wouldn't have done it. There are people out there with the funds to part with whatever it takes to get the record that they want. I myself have on occasion paid over the odds for tunes I really, really wanted and I'm not the only one.
