  1. So it's ok for someone to rip me and Lou Baretto off because Mike played an acetate of a track that hasn't even been put out on vinyl? That makes no sense whatsoever
  2. You can buy a copy from me @ £10.00 issue or £25.00 demo plus P&P Paypal to info@soul-intention.co.uk Cheers Phil
  3. B - always have been, and A if it's available
  4. To be honest not seen it for a few years. It's on one of those DVD's Pete Smith sells/used to sell
  5. Funnily enough the tax man had footage of the queues outside Queen hall when they interviewed me after i sent back a blank tax return The tax office (Wardley House), being directly opposite the Queens hall at the time
  6. It was owned by University of Bradford Students Union. They got a lot of pressure to close the niters all the way through, but the £500 room hire every two weeks was just too much of a plus for them
  7. Just when I look back at it now it seems like it wasn't a good idea and I made a bit of a tw@t of myself
  8. Yep, Leeds Astoria 1988 and It was Derek Jameson's People programme on BBC1. I bitterly regret doing it now
  9. I now have the former Sooty and Sweep Museum as my offices. Took it over in November! And, weather permitting, I ride to work on a Lambretta LI series 3
  10. From 1987 to 1990 it was run under the Hole In The Wall banner. Which was myself and Steve Croft in partnership. I stopped being actively involved in 1990 after an Inland Revenue investigation. I took the hit while Crofty remained invisible to the revenue. Steve then resurrected his After Dark promotions
  11. I think I may have a spare of this. I'll take a look over the next couple of days and get back to you
  12. I think they're all great
  13. A recommendation list of what?
  14. That is just sheer twattishness (is that a word?). On the other side of the coin, many people are just far too picky and unrealistic in their expectations of what a 40 to 50 year old record is going to be like.
  15. In my opinion, if I buy a record that looks OK and plays through then I really don't care. The records we collect are on the whole over 40 years old after all

    Irony

I have licensed and put out a couple of tracks in my time, mostly on vinyl. But in most cases, in my experience anyway, the rights are not owned by the artists themselves. So they get little if any of the fees paid. If they wrote the song then they may get some part of the mechanical royalties paid to MCPS etc. In the case of compilation CD's the amount paid per track (usually a small advance plus a percentage of the dealer price divided by the number of tracks on the CD) is likely to be not much at all. But even so, to echo what Ady says. The artists are generally very happy to receive the recognition that they get from a legitimate release of their work.
  17. Unbelievable! I've got this (with the record). The sleeve is pretty tatty though to be honest. But $1600 ????
  18. I have tried and tried with Ebay, reporting bootlegs etc. Sales of my most recent release Gloria Jones - Gone With The Wind Is My Love were utterly ruined by a shite single sided bootleg. Licensing, production etc don't come cheap and I ended up losing out quite heavily as a result. In fact on Ebay this very day there are more bootleg copies of that track for sale than my legitimate ones.
  19. I have a real mix of stuff of which I have two or more of. Some big money stuff, most not.
  20. Just stuff picked up along the way. I used to try and get two of everything at one time, particularly the double siders like The Cashmeres. Or issue and demo where possible (which some of the above are a result of). Or is this another of those sarcastic posts?

  22. Shurely Shome Mishtake
  23. But it should matter. If you allow/play boots then you may as well just allow people to use a laptop with mp3's. If that's what the night is about then so be it, each to their own. But to me if you're DJ'ing then even the most played out of played out oldies should be on original vinyl. End of!
  24. What he's obvioulsy done here is hit the 3 on his keyboard instead of the decimal point. They are right next to each other. Just had a look at his "other items". Why on earth do I bother collecting real records? A related problem is that a growing number of "DJ's" proudly stand behind the decks with shite like this. Keeping it real playing actual proper vinyl. Makes my effing blood boil.
  25. I have 2 at £150 each
