  3. Or even privy a privvy is an outside bog round here
  4. Got the box set. Pretty good IMO. A couple of gripes though. 1. The labels on the 45's don't look just like the 60's releases - no writer, publisher credits, no timings and no J/G logo 2. The sound quality on the 45's leaves a little to be desired in that they are very quiet. They appear to be very compressed on the vinyl only using. in a couple of cases, half the available space 3. One side of the "unreleased" Barbara Mason 45 is actually "Ain't Got Nobody" (exactly same mix) with a different title on the box set 45 label
  5. Butch, Andy D and Mick H do play proper northern soul, agreed. many others don't
  6. I am a fan of soul music and particularly like to hear new stuff. However, a lot of what gets played is most definitely NOT proper northern soul. A lot of the stuff i heard in the 80's, 90's, 00's was and is proper northern soul. A fair proportion of what I hear played out and about now as new discoveries isn't.
  7. Frustrates the hell out of me. Even some people I respect go along with it. they look horrified when I tell them that is Rock N Roll, or that is Country or usually that is shit!
  8. Was ironically responding to Jocko about improving the thread. Don't need the scene to be improved other than the omission of all the shite non northern stuff that gets passed off at some do's these days. Emperor's new clothes and all that
  9. im·prove /ɪmˈpruv/ Show Spelled [im-proov] Show IPA verb, im·proved, im·prov·ing. verb (used with object) 1. to bring into a more desirable or excellent condition: He took vitamins to improve his health. 2. to make (land) more useful, profitable, or valuable by enclosure, cultivation, etc. 3. to increase the value of (real property) by betterments, as the construction of buildings and sewers. 4. to make good use of; turn to account: He improved the stopover by seeing a client with offices there.
  10. You do actually have a point there. there are a few people I know who have invented a whole history about themselves. Plces they went, people they knew etc etc. Very sad actually. Their real lives must have been very boring or embarrassing or summat
  11. I didn't think so. I thought I had merely expanded the theme. Sorry. I'll fook off the thread now
  12. That's every post on here isn't it
  13. **POST DELETED**
  14. It does. They were consecutive releases and I think someone forgot to change both the moulds over. However they could have been done for promo purposes but I doubt it The ones I have have "Stop Overlooking Me" on a typed label stuck on
  15. Scratchy and William Powell kind of remind me of each other a bit. Dunno why, just do. Think it may be that break in the middle of Heartache Souvenirs, the meolody sounds a bit similar
  16. So it's ok for someone to rip me and Lou Baretto off because Mike played an acetate of a track that hasn't even been put out on vinyl? That makes no sense whatsoever
  17. You can buy a copy from me @ £10.00 issue or £25.00 demo plus P&P Paypal to info@soul-intention.co.uk Cheers Phil
  18. B - always have been, and A if it's available
  19. To be honest not seen it for a few years. It's on one of those DVD's Pete Smith sells/used to sell
  20. Funnily enough the tax man had footage of the queues outside Queen hall when they interviewed me after i sent back a blank tax return The tax office (Wardley House), being directly opposite the Queens hall at the time
  21. It was owned by University of Bradford Students Union. They got a lot of pressure to close the niters all the way through, but the £500 room hire every two weeks was just too much of a plus for them
  22. Just when I look back at it now it seems like it wasn't a good idea and I made a bit of a tw@t of myself
  23. Yep, Leeds Astoria 1988 and It was Derek Jameson's People programme on BBC1. I bitterly regret doing it now
  24. I now have the former Sooty and Sweep Museum as my offices. Took it over in November! And, weather permitting, I ride to work on a Lambretta LI series 3
  25. From 1987 to 1990 it was run under the Hole In The Wall banner. Which was myself and Steve Croft in partnership. I stopped being actively involved in 1990 after an Inland Revenue investigation. I took the hit while Crofty remained invisible to the revenue. Steve then resurrected his After Dark promotions
