"Somebody Somewhere (Needs You)" - Darrell Banks - Promo
Jonko replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in Record Wants
Mine wouldn't be good enough but there is currently a minty one on ebay though its a £100. But looks pretty mint to me. Oh though its from USA so that may be a no go for you. Just a suggestion. -
How long should one give a seller to post a record on SS
Jonko replied to Jonko's topic in All About the SOUL
So. I messaged him on FB and he replied and apologised for not acknowledging the payment saying he’s been to Paris to a gig and will be sorting out the sales tomorrow. Let’s see . -

Yes I hope. I hope there is a genuine reason, probably is but you know, you get nervous when communication stops once you made the payment. Hopefully this next week will bring some positive result. -

Yes I agree. I don't mind waiting for the record as I understand there may be personal issues, but as you said, it takes a minute to send a acknowledgement and when to expect it. I have flagged the post now. -

Yes that was what I was thinking that maybe he was ill or something. It was just strange that he messaged me about making the payment and when I made the payment I immediately messaged him and asked him to confirm that he received and didn't hear anything (and that is 5 days ago). The first thing people normally do is acknowledge receipt of the payment, especially when you paid via f&f which means you waive the protection. I guess it could be sudden illness or something. If it was work commitments how long does it take to message that payment is received? I will give it a few more days into mid week - then after that will flag it. -

Thats what I thought? When I was thinking about buying it he answered every time to my message. Now I have messaged him 6 times since paying and not had one reply. -
Not sure which forum to post this in but its a question I need to ask. I have purchased quite a few records of sellers through Soul Source and all have always gone well. I find that it's normal for the seller to acknowledge receipt of payment and to send shipping details when posted. From my experience everything that I bought of this site has always followed this procedure and in most cases I receive the record within 3 days. This week I bought a record on Tuesday, it's now 5 days later and not even had notification from the seller that he has received the payment which I paid via PP F&F (which most people request) let alone shipping notification or receipt of record. I have so far received nothing. I don't even know if he received the payment (though according to PP he has). This seller has good feedback but I just wish he would answer my messages to let me know that he received the funds and will be posting it soon. It just seems strange - maybe something went wrong with the payment, or maybe he is on holiday or gone ill or something. Am I worrying unnecessarily ? How long is reasonably to give someone to sort out posting it or / and at least letting me know he got the payment and things are in process?

Thank Brexit for this. They tighted all the rules after Brexit so buying from anywhere now and shipping to the UK is a nightmare. I didn't know About about the difference though buying from private sellers and buisness sellers. I often buy stuff from Carolina soul and always get changed vat for about a year now, though strangely I bought a record of another seller for 300$ (don't know if a business or not but he has lots for sale), I was in Italy on holiday at the time and i never got charged VAT (I wonder if that was because I was in the EU rather than buying from the UK), had it shipped to the UK. I kind of expected that customs would charge me a fee when delivering but never got charged anything.

I like this tune a lot, always had it on the Wand label. Everyone I have seen has red text. Is there a black text one too. ?

I'm sorted now, I managed to get one a couple of weeks back. Thanks anyway.

I have been looking for this for a couple of years now, last posted it as a want in August last year, no response. Just trying again see if anyone may want to sell a copy. Demo or issue I really don't mind, I just need this record. If you can help please PM with reasonable price and condition please.

First i heard about this as been out the country since June so not heard about it. There are too many messages to read on here and looks like a lot of bitching going on - it looks a bit sad to me - BBC Proms doing a northern soul show, interesting concept. I'll wait and see the broadcast on 26th August - Mind you I will still be out of the country . Is it being broadcast or just being released on iplayer - can't play iplayer out side the UK. But if broadcast I can set to record it on TVM. Is the. 26th defo the date or is it an estimate>

Sounds great, booked a couple of tickets. -
Seen 13 of those. Most memorable are Raw and Son of Saul.

Just went to see the Little Richard documentary I Am Everything. Anyone else seen it? Just learnt so much about Little Richard that I never knew. It’s a pity the filmmaker failed to touch on his Okey recording sessions. But apart from that, a fascinating film.

Film of the week for me is "Cairo Conspiracy" . Fantastic film, very insightful of the political situation in Eygpt. A fisherman’s son is awarded a scholarship to Al-Azhar University, a ‘beacon of Islam’, only to be recruited as a government informant by the secret state police. Fascinating. Sadly only 3 of us in the 150 auditorium, shame that people are not going to see it. The film is subtitled and really is a must see if interested in political thrillers.

Great to see the 4k restoration of Raging Bull last week. Best film out at the moment, better then any of the current crop of mainstream releases. Looking forward to see Little Richard film when it opens at the weekend. Also at my local looking forward to a couple of classics, Alien (4k restoration) Streetcar Named Desire, Thelma and Loiuse coming up soon.

Got it set to record. Don't forget to catch the Little Richard film "I Am Everything" on cinema release from next weekend? If you lucky enough to have a cinema local to you that are brave enough to show it.

Barbara Mason "Yes I'm Ready" Tom Moulton Mix
Jonko replied to Only Dreaming's topic in Look At Your Box
Sorry for reactivating and old thread, I was wondering if anyone else solved this question. I love the 6.18 version but can't find it available anywhere. I suppose I could always download it but I wanted a physical legal copy of it. -
I don't think you should read too much into it. Just enjoy it for what you get out of it, that's what I did. Really enjoyed it. Don't know if this helps from GG. "Both are bathed in red strobe lights, which characterizes the intimacy of their touch as more than vaguely sexual. In certain images, you're not exactly sure what you're seeing, until it's revealed that EO and Kasandra are part of a Polish circus act." Did you see the Robert Bresson Au Hasard Balthazar which is the director's inspiration for this film? Have a listen to what Mark Kermode says about it https://youtu.be/orE-MWRh-Xs I don't always get certain elements of a film but as long as I enjoy it then its enough for me, and I can always do the research on a film afterwords to see what I missed Often one needs to see a film twice and you get more out of it the second time. Now as for the Everything film that won all the oscars - that was dreadful. Lots of stuff I just didn't get but the acting was just stupid, comic hollywood fashion mixed in with it - you just couldn't take it seriously at all - so coupled with the fact that half the time you wonder what the hell is going on ? It's a farce it won so many oscars, and I wonder if it didn't have the stars and names in it that it had, would it have got the same amount of attention? Probably not! But that's Hollywood for you. Still got to watch this, hope it is still on Netflix. (The Goat and Her Three Kids).
