  1. The story goes; Original by the Contemplations Rock Candy recorded 'I don't think....' but didn't record a song for the 'B' side, so the record company used the Contemplations as the 'B' side and for continuity put Rock Candy as the artists. So one and the same song by the Contemplations
  2. Has anyone (or can anyone confirm) the run out numbers / codes on this record please. I know it hasn't been booted (?) but the white west coast demo has a delta number 64784 but the mid west - east coast multi coloured vinyl only has AB and F1124. Is there any reasons why it dosn't contain any other codes / numbers. Is it simply differing master/ pressing plants?. Everyone only discusses the white booted codes, cannot find anything on the multi-coloured. Just curious. Stuart
  3. Thanks, was just wondering how easy it would be to say change the P Into another letter and how obvious it might be .
  4. Thanks Pete, I thought I had read something. Sanity restored. Anyone know if there is a scan of a record showing what the initials look like please.
  5. My memory is fading, I seem to remember reading that some Simon S. carvers could be identified by two initials in the run out but cannot find anything in the topics. Can someone help my memory and sanity please, been looking for an hour!!. Thanks, Stuart
  6. Should also point out that there are many non OVO DJs/ collectors who are as knowledgeable as OVO DJs, having brass does not bestow knowledge just as buying OVO does not make an anorak DJ/collector.
  7. When did OVO events get renamed collectors events?, I go to OVO events and vinyl only events (presumably pressings , boots etc played) and its usually the same punters ie collectors AND those just wanting to dance/socialise. What gets me are events that are not OVO advertising 5 to 10 DJs? What the hell for if they have all bought the same 72 track CD bundle, phew and breathe. Stu
  8. Still looking, anyone!!
  9. A bank holiday 73/74/75? drove down to a club in Hanley for an all dayer, club was called Heavy Steam Machine?, he definately turned up, mate ended up on stage singing 'there ain't no soul' with him. We we're also searched going in not for pharmaceuticals but for cassette tape recorders had one confiscated till we left. Stuart
  10. Still looking for; The Flirtations Stronger Than Her Love (prefer multi col. vinyl but ex styrene ok) Honey and The Bees Dynamite Exploded Originals only in at least VG+ Please pm condition and price Thanks
  11. I guess the question you should ask yourself before trying any of the suggestions is, how much do i want to risk my records and their value vs how much i pay for them. £5 each and vinyl, then washing up liquid. £50 each they deserve proper cleaning fluid/machine especially if styrene taking care of the paper label. There are thousands of great singles for sale with a water stained label by those who have tried and failed.
  12. I would always use a professional cleaning machine with a vacuum arm and a quality non alcohol based cleaning agent. Very similar to the one I have and only charge £1.50 to clean and to supply a quality antistatic vinyl sleeve. Postage might be a problem unless you are near Huddersfield.
  13. Looking for a copy of Honey and the Bees, Dynamite Exploded on Arctic original. If you are looking to offload a copy in VG+ or better condition please pm with condition/ price. Thanks Stuart
  14. Sorry, yes they do physically exist but a myth in that it only exists in the thoughts of the person who created it, How many top 500 lists are there and do they all agree?.
  15. When does a record drop out of the mythical top 500 for say no.501 so a dj can play it to refill the dance floor without criticism?. Just a thought, top 500 records, about 1250 minutes, average night 300 minutes (5hrs). Plenty of scope to not repeat but play records punters know whilst throwing in an occasional new sound.
  16. Perhaps the use of the term 'policing' was incorrect in my previous point #58, I didn't mean start reporting folk to th authorities, just not allow obvious boots to be sold / promoted through this site?. I used the term to mean deleting any adverts / links to these types of records. Nor am I saying these new breed of boot with the exact copy labels are been advertised on here but should we tolerate any non legitimate record to be advertised?. There is always ebay, discogs, FB for the boots etc. just not this site?. However, there are many discussions on this site about which is the original of many records, correct label print, matrix, dimples vs. no dimples, we might as well just shut up and face facts, what would we discussed if there were no boots.
  17. What??, how do you retract a bid.
  18. Not easy to police but how many non legit records are sold in the sales section on this site or have links to non legit sales on other sites? If we can not be bothered how can we complain about other sites like ebay not policing this problem effectively.
  19. pm'd you
