  2. Tonight's the night folks - bring your dancing shoes!πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί
  3. I went there a few times but mostly went to The Wheel. Can't see any faces I recognise but it was SO many years ago! You're right Rick - they all do look to be having a good time...some big eyes there...😜
  4. Looking forward to hearing the tunes the DJs have in store for us this month! Bring it on guys........ πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί
  5. I was at The Twisted Wheel most weekends from 1966-70 & saw some brilliant bands there - way too many to list them all! The Drifters. Junior Walker, Ike & Tina, Root & Jenny Jackson, Oscar Tony Jr, Jimmy James, J.J. Jackson, Jimmy Ruffin, Jamo Thomas, Bandwagon, Flamingos..........that's just off the top of my head - I could go on forever! I tried a few other clubs - Golden Disc in Keighley - Plebs in Halifax - Birdtrap in Burnley - String o Beads in Bradford to name just a few - but the Wheel was always favourite. Happy days - we didn't realise at the time just how lucky we were!
  6. Sad news - I met Tommy a few times & he was always such a lovely man - one of life's nice guys & a proper gent. RIP Tommy & thank you for the music xx❀️
  7. If you were a young Mod back in those heady days of the 1960s - or maybe you just feel you missed out on a fab time - then this is definitely the night for you! DJs Joe Tucker (3 Keys Mod Weekender, Skegness): Steve Crawshaw (Cooper's Bar, Guiseley & Cross Keys, Knaresborough) plus Soul Brew's very own Marc Silverside will be spinning the vinyl to take us all back to our teenage years. They will be keeping that dance floor busy with a selection of Mod/Motown dancers, 60s club soul & R&B, with maybe a touch of ska & reggae thrown into the mix too! If you have good memories of places such as Manchester's Twisted Wheel - Bradford's Hole in The Wall; String-o-Beads: Heartbeat; Pack Horse & Market Tavern - The Plebs, Vic Lounge & Upper George in Halifax - you really won't want to miss this one! Mod gear optional! The Harold's got it all - a warm welcome & fab, friendly atmosphere; great sound system with request-friendly DJs - if they've got it with them, they'll play it for you! There's a top-notch dance floor with absolutely no need at all for talc; bar prices at WMC rates; large car park & good transport links. It's situated on the main road, with easy access from Chain Bar Roundabout, regular busses from Bradford, Brighouse, Leeds & Huddersfield & it's also close to Low Moor train station. There's even a nice hotel (The Guide Post) less than 10 mins walk away for those who fancy making a weekend of it! We tend to limit numbers to 120 max in order to make sure everyone has a seat & also a space on a not-too-crowded dance floor, so please be early to avoid disappointment.
  8. Is anyone watching Virdee on BBC1? All filmed in Bradford (my home city) & it's interesting to see all those familiar locations on the telly! Doesn't do much for Bradford's already tarnished reputation, but it's well worth a look!
  9. I just googled it & it came up straight away - must be my magic touch! πŸ˜€ Glad I could help.
  10. Never could resist a challenge so I just googled the lyrics Bukem - I think you might be looking for One Kiss Away by Billy Ocean. Hope this helps!
  11. Fantastic night at the The Harold Club - thanks to Joe Burnside who smashed it with his set - top notch selection helping me and Stuart Eastwood to keep the dance floor buzzing all night. We appreciate everyone’s support, especially venturing out on a cold January night. Big thanks to Chris Jenkinson for taking lots of photos ..... top snapper if ever there was one! Everyone seemed to have a really good night & the feedback was all great. Here's a nice comment on Facebook from from Chris J......... "The Harold Club in Bradford was great.. My type of music and really hit the spot... This is a Venue to watch out for... Has great potential. See you at the next one. Hoorah." Thanks to all again to all who turned out to support us - here are just a few of last night's pics from Chris J..πŸ™‚

  15. Roll on Friday! Can't wait for a good night out now that the snow's all gone.......Bring your dancing shoes folks! πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί
  16. We all used to call it "The Cold Room" - I remember it well Roburt - too cold & smelly (the gents!) to stay in there for long! I would always have a look in at some point during the night to see if I knew anyone in there, but rarely stayed for long cos of the strong pong! I've never found a photo of the room, although I vaguely recall a few of us sitting in there chatting to Jimmy Cliff one night.
  17. Sad news indeed - yet another of my teenage icons lost. RIP Sam & thank you for the music. πŸ’”
  18. I was a regular at Whitworth St from 1966-70. I've found a few photos on Facebook from back in the day - first two were taken in the upstairs coffee bar - next two in the room where the DJ's cage was & the last one in the stage room where the bands played. Have to say I've scanned these pics so many times looking for familiar faces! Hope the pics help to refresh your memory Chris!
  19. Best get there early if you want a seat - Jeremy's is very popular & always gets packed to the rafters! πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸ·πŸ»
  20. Happy New Year to all - hope everyone has a good night tonight! As for me, I'll be staying in with my dog cos he'll be scared of all the fireworks!
  21. Hi all - Kath here with a bit of feedback from last night at The Harold Club. We knew we were in for a busy night cos of the ticket sales - we already had around 40 people in before we officially opened the doors at 8pm & the atmosphere was buzzing from the get-go! A few people had tickets reserved on the door but didn't make it to join us, but we also had quite a few turned up just "on spec" so we ended up with a full house anyway! A lot of our regulars had also brought along family members & we had a much more mixed crowd than usual, so it wasn't the right time for the DJs to concentrate solely on playing their normal mix of R&B & rarer tunes. They decided to throw a few classics & more well-known atb soul into the mix too - a bit of "something for everyone" so to speak. Most of the feedback that we've had was very positive & pretty much everyone said they'd had a great night. Next month Soul Brew will be back to spinning their usual mix of rarer soul, R&B & floorfillers that always go down well with all our regulars. As always - thanks & well done to all the DJs - thanks too to the hard-working bar staff who were rushed off their feet from the word go! Last but by no means least, thanks to everyone who came to support us last night - Happy New Year to all & hope to see you at our next event at The Harold on Friday 17th January, when our guest DJ will be Joe Burnside.
