One of our DJ friends (Steve Sowerbutts) is undergoing chemo at St James's hospital at the mo - his son-in-law Callum has set up a Just Giving page & is currently raising funds for Maggie's Cancer Care Centre at St James's - he is running 10k every day while Steve is receiving treatment. Steve has in the past raised money for cancer charities, but as he is unable to run while undergoing chemo, Callum is running for him.  At Soul Brew's event at Headley Golf Club, Thornton, Bradford, we held a bucket collection & managed to raise 106.09 to add to the funds. I will have my bucket with me at The George on the 29th, so if anyone would like to donate - any amount large or small - it will be very much appreciated. Every single penny counts!

    Here is Callum's story:-

    I’ll be taking on 490k of running, starting Wednesday 5th April. See my Story below which is also on my Justgiving page;

Stephen (Lois’s Dad) has recently been diagnosed with a stage 4 Head & Neck Cancer. He raised money himself for Maggie’s Leeds back in 2021, running 50 miles in 31 days, As he is unable to run himself to raise funds again for Maggies, I will run for him.

On Wednesday 5th April, Stephen will start his 7 weeks of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. In that time I will run 10k every day, with the last day being 23rd May, when he will reach the last day of treatment.

This is by far the biggest challenge that I have decided to do. A challenge I feel I need to do, for a charity that is very close to mine & Lois’s families hearts at the moment.

Please help me raise as much as I possibly can to support this amazing Charity.

                                                                 ❤️❤️❤️GO CALLUM - YOU'LL SMASH IT LAD!❤️❤️❤️

After our event at The George I will do a final count up & pay the money collected into Callum's Just Giving page.

Hi all - Kath here with a bit of feedback from Soul Brew's first event at Headley Venue. There were some familiar faces in the room, plus lots of new ones which meant the DJs had to work hard to do the dance floor justice.. on top of the usual mix of Northern, Club Soul, R&B & rarer tunes, the DJs all dug a bit deeper into the record boxes - lo & behold - a bit more Motown, underplayed and popular- and the dance floor was packed! A massive shout out to guest on the night Vicky Darbyshire from Ripon City Soul Club who played a storming set- brilliant as ever .

Glad to say that everybody said they'd had a good night & also that Headley say they would like Soul Brew to do more soul nights there in the future, so watch this space!

As always - thanks everyone for coming and thanks for dancing - your support is very much appreciated!

PS - The bucket collection that we did for Maggie's to support our DJ mate Steve Sowerbutts while he's undergoing treatment for cancer raised 106.09p - huge thanks to all who donated. I'll be rattling the bucket again at The Bistro at the end of the month & I'll update the total collected when I've had a final count up.

Looking forward to a cracking night of Soul Brew floorfillers - all guaranteed to pack the dance floor!

                                            💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃

7.00 door tax on the night, or you can contact headleygolfclub.co.uk for advance tickets at a discounted price of 5.00 per ticket. For more info please contact the club at info@headleyvenue.co.uk - you can also phone the club on 01274 831215.

So sorry to disappoint everyone, but we have just taken the decision to cancel tonight's event due to the bad weather - tonight's forecast is for the temperature to drop to -7 in this area so the icy roads will be absolutely lethal! 😰

Take care & hope you will be able to join Soul Brew at one of our future events!

We had a full house for our first event at The George in February with so much great feedback, both on the night & also afterwards! I just couldn't resist sharing some of it so here goes:-

"Thank you for asking me to guest DJ, what a brilliant night and it felt so homely good luck for future events"

    "Was a top night."

"Great night guys as always xx"

    "Thankyou for a great night Kath,had a blast.xx"

    "Good night "

"Lovely stuff ta. It was seriously one of the best nights I have had in a long time. You all should be very proud - it was electric. Can’t wait for the next one."

 Every bit of feedback is always very much appreciated - glad to see that we got it right!

I've spent all day thinking just what to write about last night at The George - it was such an absolute blast that I don't even know where to begin!

We were supposed to be opening the doors at 8pm, but by 7.30 people were already beginning to arrive - by 8pm we had just over 30 in & people were stepping onto the dance floor! Clearly we were in for a very busy night..... By around 9.30 we had a full house & I was a bit worried that we might have to turn people away, but happily we managed to fit everybody in.......just.

The atmosphere was absolutely BUZZING - busy dance floor all night & feedback was all very positive from the get-go - everyone said how great the venue is - music spot on - bar prices good etc.👍👍

We initially had a slight problem with seating - we'd warned the venue that we were in for a busy night & would need lots of seating, but even then they underestimated just HOW busy! The staff soon realized & found more chairs etc. Teething problems that will all be sorted for our next event at The George!

Last - but by no means least - Soul Brew want to say thanks to everyone who came to support us at our first event - all very much appreciated. Thanks also to guest DJ Jonah - you played a storming spot & every tune went down really well with the dancers. :thumbup:

Looking forward now to our next event at The George - we'd hoped to book the 3rd Saturday of the month again, but the only date available to us in March was Friday 10th March so we've booked that & then hopefully we'll be back to the 3rd Saturday of every month.😀

Well tonight's the night - it's all looking really good & promising to be a very busy night at The George! Please be early to avoid disappointment - doors open at 8pm.

PS - Best get your dancing shoes out - you'll need them!!💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺

With two weeks still to go until Soul Brew's first event in our new venue, we've already had LOADS & LOADS of interest - so far it's looking as though we're in for an extremely busy night! Doors open at 8pm - please be early to avoid disappointment.

    🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃

I've just been sent a list of the drinks promos that will be on offer on the night.

  1. Hi all - Kath here.

Well - where do I start? All the DJs played storming sets for Soul Brew's final event at Low Moor Club, with some cracking tunes played - thanks & well done to Marc Silverside, Stuart Eastwood & guest DJ Jeff Robinson - you smashed it guys!

It was sad to see the sound system being packed up at the end of the night for the last time at the club, but at the same time great to have such good feedback from the dancers, all insisting that Soul Brew keep everyone informed as to where our new venue will be. The answer to that is that we're still looking, but as soon as we find a new home with a decent dance floor we'll be shouting it from the rooftops!

Hope you all have a great Christmas & New Year - watch this space for the next instalment of Soul Brew's adventures!

  2. Here are the DJ times for Saturday night:-

    8.00 - 8.30 Marc Silverside

    8.30 - 9.00 Stuart Eastwood

    9.00 - 9.45 Jeff Robinson (Bradford's Soul on Sunday)

    9.45 - 10.15 Marc Silverside

    10.15 - 11.00 Jeff Robinson

    11.00 - 11.30 Stuart Eastwood

11.30 - end Marc & Stuart double decking

💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃 See you on the dance floor! 🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺

  3. "Really looking forward to this- making the most of our last night at the Low Moor.. sad to see it go as a venue and appreciate all the soul nights that went before.. let’s do it justice and give it some. I’ll be bringing some new tunes to my box from recent crate digging in Detroit, a few rarer tunes and some that you don’t hear played out much. And we’re looking forward to hearing top selector Jeff Robinson spinning the tunes"

Well said Marc - the sale of the club will be such a sad loss - not only to those of us who enjoy the soul nights there, but also to the Low Moor community too. 😭

On a brighter note - can't wait to see what other goodies you've brough back from the States & also looking forward to finding a new home for the Soul Brew decks! :thumbup::thumbup:

  4.  Make sure you don't miss the last ever soul do at The Low Moor - it'll be a cracker! 🙂 Everybody welcome - old friends & new faces too.

We're still no wiser as to when the sale of the club will be all done & dusted & The Low Moor will finally close it's doors for good, but I suspect it will be shortly after the New Year. Here at Soul Brew we've been very busy shopping around for a new home for our soul nights - we've looked at quite a few, but still not found the right place yet - watch this space!!

    See you on the dance floor!! 🎧 🎵 🍷 🍻 💃 🕺

  5. I was really hoping that we would know more about the sale of the club by now, but after talking to the bar staff last week we're still none the wiser - they don't know any more than they did last month.

In the meantime - here's some of the good feedback from our November event at Low Moor Club:-

    "Good tunes as always "

"Just got back home from a great evening at soulbrew, low moor, was made to feel very welcome, great tunes from all the DJs,will be back for the next one ."

"Fab night of tunes, danced my socks off, will pay for it tommorow"

Sad to feel that December will probably be Soul Brew's last event at The Low Moor Club - but good feedback always puts a smile on my face!!

Hi all - Kath here with a bit of feedback from last night. I found a few nice comments on facebook today - thought I would copy & paste some of them so here goes:-

    "Good tunes as always 😁"

"Just got back home from a great evening at soulbrew, low moor, was made to feel very welcome, great tunes from all the DJs,will be back for the next one .💃💃🕺😉"

"Fab night of tunes, danced my socks 🧦 off, will pay for it tommorow 😭👍"

I would also like to say a huge thanks to all those who chose to support us last night - thanks for coming & thanks for dancing! As always your support is very much appreciated. Thanks & well done too to all the DJs - you played some amazing tunes guys!
Our next event at Low Moor Club is on Saturday 17th December & sadly we think that by then the club's fate will be signed, sealed & delivered, so it will more than likely be the last ever soul night at the club.
It would have been good to have a few more feet through the door last night, but then we were up against the footie!
Hope you can all make it to the club on the 17th Dec - let's make LMC's last ever soul night an absolute blast!🙂

Here are the DJ times for tomorrow night:-

    8pm - 8.45....Stuart Eastwood

    8.45 - 9.30......Carl Eastwood

    9.30 - 10.15.....Steve Yendley

    10.15 - 11-15.....Stuart Arber

    11.15 - close.......Soul Brew DJs Stuart Carl & Steve......TRIPLE DECKING! 🔥 🔥🔥

    🕺💃🕺💃🕺 BRING YOUR DANCING SHOES!! 💃 🕺 💃 🕺💃

"Promises to be a top night.......recent additions from the Detroit a Go Go trip in the box..  including this one and plenty more ..... "

Great find Marc - can't wait to see what other goodies you & Carl picked up while you were in the States!

Soul Brew DJs Marc Silverside & Carl Eastwood did quite a lot of crate-digging while they were away DJing in Detroit recently - now they're both back in the UK & just ITCHING to play their new tunes to pack the dance floor!

                                               🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃
