  1. Hamilton Bohannon, totally synonymous with disco. Posted this one because of the excellent dance tutorial that accompanies it. Enjoy. Disco Stomp.... https://youtu.be/X86qgsDL_4k
  2. There's a similar thread in Freebasing, eloquently entitled " Eff Off Handbaggers".
  3. Give it up for Mr Marvin Gaye.... https://youtu.be/fp7Q1OAzITM
  4. Looks like an angle grinding disc. Probably plays like one.
  5. Guilty pleasure this one.... Mr Day - Soul On Wax https://youtu.be/UEyEiDydnqk
  6. Unissued album, titled "Breaking Through", supposed to include some of the recordings on the Lost and Found CD, was slated for release on Workshop Jazz, as Workshop LP Jazz W217.
  7. 80% without cheating.
  8. I believe youngsters these days are as keen as ever on music, but don't seem to have the attention span or the time to sit down and read music magazines or contribute to forums in a meaningful way. My three kids have a very diverse taste in music. My youngest son recently came back from a trip to Canada with some second hand Jimi Hendrix and Neil Young vinyl albums. My daughter loves Fleetwood Mac and Creedence, whilst my eldest son likes Rap and buys lots of CDs as opposed to downloads.
  9. Nice one Steve. I was on the first row of tables when I wasn't attempting to dance. Always get a friendly welcome in Barrow, but with Cumbria being sparsely populated, we're all related, we all tend to know each other on the soul scene up here.
  10. I was wearing my Avatars on Saturday night!
  11. I can remember you and Steve Csordas (Sas). I went out with a blonde girl called Janet from Sheffield.
  12. Just as well I didn't come and bother you then.
  13. I think Spacehopper is right, Russ. You would need to offer something that you can't get most weekends up North for people to contemplate what would be an eight to ten hour round trip. Don't think many would be willing to take the chance. Not really the pioneering spirit of the 70s and 80s I know, but you're looking at an older clientele. PS, are you the same Russ Vickers who was at Collingwood late 70s / early 80s?
  14. You can get it packaged with a couple of CDs at Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Northern-Soul-Various-Artists/dp/B00AZGKGOE/ref=pd_ys_sf_s_229816_a1_71_p?ie=UTF8&refRID=0DWRW7JP4B9GSPFD4Y0J
  15. Had to cut short a very interesting conversation on Show Pigeons last night when the dance floor beckoned.
  16. Words can't describe this..... Just A Little Love (Before My Life Is Gone) https://youtu.be/mRLj4sikuL4
  17. In other words, if Carlsberg did All Nighters.
  18. The seller says he dug them out of the attic. Gave all my old clothes to Oxfam. Always brings a smile to my face imaging some little African lad running around in a pair of bags.
  19. The problem could be more widespread than we originally thought..... https://vimeo.com/74906829
  20. Any dealers reading this thread will be currently marking up their prices for the aforementioned.
  21. Just waiting for the release of the first Northern Soul Dance Fitness Workout DVD, "Stompercise".
  22. If the filming I witnessed at KGH last year is anything to go by, it certainly won't be a tea break production. They took a whole day to film two scenes. There was a real buzz amongst the youngsters on the dance floor, this being the culmination of all the dance clubs they'd attended over the previous years. If they can capture the atmosphere in that hall onto celluloid, then I believe they'll have something special.
  23. Was this the guy, Pete?
  24. Brilliant, like an outtake from the League of Gentlemen.....this is a local Soul night for local people.
  25. Below is an extract from the brochure that was produced when the filmmakers were trying to attract funding. Don't know if the strategy has altered since, but it'll be a cinema release initially. "Whilst Northern Soul is a resolutely British film, it also has real potential for international appeal. This aspect will support our revenue ambitions. As a music film it is anticipated that it should be released at least in the UK, Japan, Australia, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, Germany and the USA. All have very healthy and growing Northern Soul scenes and it is believed that there are strong possibilities to position Northern Soul in these markets as well as other countries where there are either similar or equivalent scenes or an interest in British youth culture."
