  1. My older son has a Pharrell Williams CD. I'll have to give it a listen.
  2. This certainly beats Jack and the Beanstalk.... https://www.asoulfulchristmas.com/
  3. Is this what you call Crossunder?
  4. Too darn, too darn helpful.
  5. Must be more than one Morris Chestnut. The actor wasn't born until 1969.... https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004820/
  6. Ended up e-mailing Universal again yesterday. Here's part of the response I just received..... "After speaking with our eCommerce team today, they have advised that the missing vinyl will be sent out to you as a matter of urgency and if it isn't with you within 3-5 days, please contact me and I will assist you further." I wonder if they've actually pressed too many Barbara McNairs and not enough Marvin Gaye singles, and have had to get more MGs pressed? Does this mean there'll be a surplus of BMs, which may make their way onto the market? As far as I know, they don't want the extra BM singles back.
  7. A bit of Vickers Engineering wouldn't have gone amiss on the Motown 7s Boxset.
  8. Easy for you to say, Mr Vickers.......
  9. I think that was the used price that Amazon were selling them for. The download codes may have been used.
  10. I'll give it a play tonight. Just checked, it plays fine.
  11. No 1846 arrived over the weekend, and f*cks me old boots if I haven't got two copies of Barbara McNair and no Marvin Gaye. This is despite me e-mailing Universal Music's support team before they despatched it, to check that they were aware of this widespread problem. They confirmed to me they had and would be contacting the supplier and doing a stock take on the 9th (today) before sending out any further boxsets. Looks like they thought better of this in their evident hurry to disappoint me. Phoned their support desk today and I'm under the impression that they are going to send me the missing single, but they promised to phone me back to confirm this. Still waiting. As for the vinyl I have received, looks very poor quality, lightweight with razor sharp edges and cheap labels. Hard to believe Mr Searling would be happy with the finished product. Compare this to the Motown Early R & B LP from Vee-Tone Records, nice 180g vinyl made in Great Britain.
  12. Sixteen days hence, a boy child will be born in a maisonette in Bethnal Green, there being no room at the Holiday Inn, it being Christmas and all that. He will be born to Mary and Joseph Searle, and they shall name him Norman. Three wise dealers from East Anglia will come bearing gifts of Gold vinyl (The Professionals), Frank Wilson and Myrrh (whatever that is). Norman will grow up to be the saviour of the scene, and along with his twelve disc jockies, will spread the word throughout the land. He shall make the deaf R & B fans hear, and the lame Crossover fans dance. He shall turn Wade in the Water into wine. Yes my brethren, this is the future of Norman Searle.
  13. Check out the Christmas is Coming thread in All About The Soul.
  14. Just bought one from Marrakech. The mad Moroccan who sold me it called it a pouffe (or was that me), obviously the French influence. Spent the last couple of weeks shredding old newspapers to stuff it with. Back to the topic, the future of Northern Soul is safe in our hands.
  15. Sam Williams or Ohio Players? Brought up listening to the former, but I prefer the latter.
  16. Getting back to the topic, I think the future of Northern Soul is safe in our hands.
  17. Earl Van Helsing.
  18. Had to check it out to see what they got to rhyme with soufflé........BUFFET!
  19. "I'll See You When I Get There", at least I think that's what it's called, Lou Rawls sings that line enough times. He's not going to see her before he gets there, is he? Pure cabaret.
  20. I think we all know a Finchy...... https://youtu.be/W7boRHoz27s
  21. Super-fi aren't bad, had a few ex-demo and open box items from there, and just waiting delivery of a new Pro-ject Essentials II turntable, which I ordered when they had 10% off everything for Black Friday. My youngest son is after a deck, amp and speakers and I'm looking into a Denon DM39 mini system with a Denon DP200USB deck and a pair of Q Acoustics 2010i speakers. The DM39 has CD and DAB, digital and analogue inputs. The deck has a built-in phono stage so will connect directly into the DM39, and can archive vinyl directly to a USB stick. The DM39 and 2010i's are both award winners. Priced the lot up for £425 at Peter Tyson's, who also trade through Amazon, and throw in 5m of decent speaker cable. Richer Sounds will probably match that. https://www.testfreaks.com/turntables/denon-dp-200usb/ https://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_pages/denon_rcd-m39_with_q_acoustics_q2010i.shtml https://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_pages/denon_dp-200usb.shtml?cpc&gclid=CKfV1NjbmLsCFUzHtAodzBcA-A
  22. Worth a read. Didn't realise the Soul Stirrers were formed way back in 1926. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Soul_Stirrers
  23. Currently on sale for £30.49 at Amazon...... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AIFL7IG/ref=s9_hps_bw_g15_i16?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=0VMGS93EP3S3DFS966Y7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=447905927&pf_rd_i=2794224031
  24. Just checked my e-mails, and I've received the same news from Universal.
