  1. Probably count on one hand the number of kids my age who were into it when I was in the third, fourth and fifth years at school. There were probably more older lads into it. As a percentage I'd probably put it in low single figures. I suppose Punk, New Wave, Disco and then all the greebo music that was around in the 70's attracted more followers.
  2. Pete, you may need to look into the regulations if you're thinking of using it as a bedroom. It may need a permanent staircase installing, and a Velux window or two, depending on the floor area. Easy enough to board it out for extra storage, but if it's used as a living space I'd seek professional advice.
  3. With BBC Films scooping the award for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema earlier in the evening, "Pride" (by BBC Films) was always going to win the Best Newcomer category. Difficult to compete against all that TV Licence fee funding.
  4. Probably doesn't need to. She'll have made more from that single with Elton John than all of her Motown output.
  5. Of course, it was Popham's Telegraphic Signals of Marine Vocabulary.
  6. Just another thought, but if the family don't own the performing or recording rights, what exactly do they own that would enable them to claim?
  7. It's just ridiculous that they weren't allowed to play it in the first place considering it was what the whole trial is based on. Only in America.
  8. Just as well they had semaphore.
  9. Just picked up three of Numero's Eccentric Soul compilations (009, 027 and 041) on vinyl for $10 each at Urban Outfitters in Orlando. Thought they were only available on CD but they had a pile of them amongst the various other LPs. May go back for 011 and 017 if there's enough room in the suitcase.
  10. My daughter and her boyfriend with a couple of lorikeets.
  11. What's a pants friend?
  12. Bought the Philly box set just after it was first released, and it was great value then. At £20 it's an absolute steal. Got another copy at the lower price for a mate.
  13. Does a lot for charidee.
  14. By that reckoning, there must be quite a few ex Casino DJ's about. PS Just added it to my CV.
  15. Very thought provoking thanks Dave.
  16. Caught the back end of an interview with his nephew Keith Crouch on Solar last week. A talented man. RIP Andrae.
  17. Had to look it up myself. He's already been approached by Getty images and he's had a few accepted by them. One particular shot he took from the Virgin Balloon has made him a few bob.
  18. Lumas Berlin just got in touch with Joe yesterday. Apparently they're interested in his landscape photography. Hope something comes of it.
  19. Don't think Saatchi & Saatchi will be calling anytime soon.
  20. Agreed, it's a good read. Be interesting to know what the other track was.
  21. With you on that one, AS. Should only be used on babies' bottoms.
  22. The funny thing was, the missus came to see us off. I was on the end of the guide rope when the balloon was being inflated and when I jumped into the basket, she was in there. Some people hadn't turned up so she was offered a cheap flight. Brilliant experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Really peaceful up there. The pilot had a camera that was rigged up so he could take a group photo of everybody in the basket.
  23. I went up in the balloon with him that day. It was really foggy on the ground so we were a bit dubious about what the view would be like, but once we got up to about 500 feet, you could see for miles. Great experience. He got some free balloon rides as part of his prize, so he took his Grandad with him last year.
  24. Thanks Steve. He's also got all the technical stuff weighed off.
  25. I certainly am, thanks Dave. I wouldn't have the patience for some of the shots he takes. Some of his star trails take hours, and he spends a lot of time processing them afterwards.
