To be honest, I'm not bothered if anybody replaces "us" or not. None of my three kids are into the scene and that's fine by me. I wasn't intending bringing up a bunch of mini me's. I'm quite happy to see youngsters on the scene, but one thing's for sure, they're inheriting a scene that is a very sanitised version of what it was in the 60's through to the 80's. Again, that's fine if that's what they want. More likely a signs of the times, and things are going to get more chilled as we all mellow with age. On the other hand, maybe they can't wait for us to roll over so they can have it all to themselves. Thing is, there's such a wide range of ages evident on the scene today due to its longevity. Looking around the venue I attended on Saturday night, I felt positively young (at 55)! In the meantime, l'll keep on keeping on until it's quitting time.

The man can't even get the name of the venue right. It's the Poplar Club, not the Popular Club as used in the article title, although he manages to correct his mistake later on.

Think you're right, it's rumoured to be James Moore, but Moses and Joshua sounds good because of the biblical connection.

Enjoyed the recent thread about duets. How about groups / duos made up of family members, like Moses and Joshua Dillard, Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, Sly and the Family Stone?

I for one wish the learned gentlemen every success in his endeavours. Will the resultant findings be available to the general public?

In my daughter's arts and crafts studio she soaks all her glue brushes in hand sanitiser. It's probably the alcohol in it that dissolves the glue, so that may be worth a try. A small bottle costs less than £1. Just brush it on to the affected area.

Funny you should say that Dave. I read The Broker many years ago, probably when it was first published, and I always fancied visiting Bologna from the descriptions he gave of the city in his book. Very quiet this time of year, as all the students are on holiday, as are many of the locals. A big contrast to Florence which I did on a day return yesterday. The fast train from Bologna to Florence only takes 35 minutes. The place was heaving with tourists. Nice to get back to Bologna after a day there. Impressed with all the porticos as you can walk about in the shade. Visited the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca, which sits on a hill 300m above Bologna. The whole walk is covered by a portico. Here's the Ponte Vecchio, as seen from the Uffizi museum......

It's the Asinelli Tower in Bologna, Peter. At a height of 97m, it's the tallest one in the city. The one behind it is the Garisenda Tower. They gave up on its construction when the ground it's standing on sank. Here's the view from the top....
