  1. As I'm a born and bred Dundonian, I'm very disapointed in you Davie !! surely your pride and joy must have been the Timex watches you had. I was there for 20 years and we all had drawers full of them, in early 80t's we made the worlds thinnest watch, it was soooo coool and thin that the bezel would bend after a while !!! alan
  2. hi Dawn, pm me your address and I'll send one of our 8th Anniversary CD's that I'm currently making for our night on 20th March in Dundee, it will be one of those "white advanced copy" discs cheers alan
  3. a beautifully scripted "Wind UP", no way would a vinyl junkie/dealer use that type of terminology
  4. nice one Steve - what about a European Snr Operations Development Manager for a multi-national electronic manufacturing company ? and please no bullsh~t abuse !! alan
  5. I've got to agree with a couple of posts on this, Greg Perry never liked it, Alfie Davison great song. Are they oldies ? for me definitely NO, but I'm 50+ and don't associate them in that category. Like Lenny says, in Scotland we have some pseudo Oldies clubs that will pack the floor when Alfie Davison is played but play something from 1962 and it's tumbleweed time !! alan
  6. I could have a wild guess - some soul music, a piece of flat vinyl or styrene and a round paper label with a hole through the middle. I may be wrong though.... :-)
  7. ok, I screwed up with Erma Franklin label, i've got the record and it is Brunswick demo. and yes the book talks about the third sister Carolyn, who died early through cancer. Glad I added the dislsclaimer that it's Mark Bego's book !! alan
  8. This topic can probably fit into the "useful trivia" or "boring b@stard" category. But I've just finished reading the biography of Aretha Franklin written by Mark Bego and there are a few things that I didn't know before (not exactly Einstien material !) 1. Erma Franklin who sang- Whispers getting louder on Duke, is Aretha's big sister. 2. Whilst exiting a Chicago limousine in 1968, Aretha was confronted by a 14 yr old runaway girl, Aretha gave her a $100 bill, that young girl was Oprah Winfrey. 3. Chuck Jackson, is actually the brother of Rev. Jesse Jackson. Now, I never knew that...... And that's why I get a huge thrill when reading about this fantastic Soul scene. alan
  9. hi Mark - I'm out in deepest eastern Hungary working this weekend, hotel has dodgy WiFi connection so hopefully I'l be tuned in as usual..... cheers alan
  10. not sure if it's for relaxation, but my no1 tearjerker is Walter Jackson - Uphill climb to the bottom alan
