Finally got myself a copy of this beautiful Detroit modern rarity. Sins of Satan "Mother Nature" on Ecology. I was first turned on to this track though a mix Arron Anderson did for Jazzman about three or four years ago. There were some great tracks in that mix. Heres a link to the mix if you are curious. https://www.breakself.com/mixes/5

Kenny O'dell "unknown Territory" Rona
markgarcia1824 replied to markgarcia1824's topic in Look At Your Box
This was the record that was listed for sale on soul-source. The seller was a friend here in California. We worked out a deal for cash and record trades. I would rather keep the cost private. Are any of Kenny's other 45s worth looking into or anything else on the label for that matter? The flip is right in line with most teen records of the day. Not much to write home about. -
Mick, I went to the post office earlier this week to mail multiple packages to europe and the uk. international postage usually costs $13usd to mail one 45. I had a package that contained 6 records and it cost $17. The cost for tracking is an additional $12. It is pretty ridiculous how expensive the postage system is considering the lack of support the give us in their office and with handling postage, losing packages ect. I can understand your frustration with the charges. I also collect jazz albums and most of the purchases I make though the internet come from japan. The shipping charges for one album are close to $30. Add that to the inflated cost of japanese reissues and competition for originals and it make for one expensive album. In the end it is worth it because I buy from dealer I trust who always send quality products. I also try to make multiple item purchase whenever possible to save on my shipping expenses.

What would convince UK buyer to continue buying from the USA? Would it help if sellers met you half way with shipping charges?

I recently acquired this record and was hoping someone out there could shed some more light on it for me. The record is Kenny O'Dell "Unknown Territory" on Rona. The flip side is "Baby, Since You've Been Gone." Most of my google searches have lead to dead ends. Has anyone out there had this record before or know of it? It only pops up in one auction though Popsike and that listing didn't provide much information beyond what is on the label. Thank you in advance for any help. Good to know. Thank you for sharing. -
You are correct I am definitely not looking to become a hiphop dj. But, to each their own as they say. I did want to take a second to thank everyone who contributed to this thread and helped me make a good investment. I'll let you know how it works out when I get it in the mail next week. Cheers.

I bought a vestax off of ebay today. Cost me $125usd plus $30 shipping. Not bad considering most were offering it at $165 plus shipping.
-
They are a lot lighter and it seems like they are not built to endure like the vestax are. But I do like the fact that I can walk around with out being questioned whats in the case. I'm torn on which way to go. I'm still leaning towards the vestax. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Ebay purchase just arrived in the post today. A beautiful british RCA 7" pressing of Harold McNair "The Hipster." Flute lead mod club jazz at its best!

Just read this article...Ive used the Crosley Revolution at record shows and it seem to be a decent player. Its about the same price as the vestax. One big advantage i see is that it is smaller and fits into a bag easier.
-
has anyone used the numark pt-01usb portables? only about half the price of the vestax! I just dont know about the quality. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Numark-PT-01USB-Portable-USB-Turntable-105136873-i1424871.gc

I have been looking into purchasing a portable battery powered turntable to bring with me to record shows, stores, ect. I would prefer to buy something with a speaker built-in and a head phone jack. My question is what options are out there? Is it better to spend the money and buy a Sound Burger or stick with one on the more economical players on the market now? I have used the FisherPrice childern's play table and have not been impressed with them. What do you think? Are there any threads already going on this subject? Thank you for your help.

Discogs seems to have some steals on lesser known records. Ive got some great deal off of sellers. It is also a huge resource for finding information of releases. Although there are holes in their discographies. I have never used gemm. But I am interested in hearing more feedback on the site.
