I bought this record from a collector recently and when I tried to do some research on it, nothing came back. I’m very interested in finding out more, as I’m very familiar with the label and the producer, but not the artist. The producer Al King is known for some of his funky productions with Larry Ellis and Larry Ellis & The Hammer, especially for the rare track “Funky Thing”. I believe Larry Ellis was from Upstate NY? All of his records seem to be very difficult to find.
Is anyone familiar with this record and/or artist? It’s a quality track. Not as funky as some of his other productions, but certainly borders between uptempo funk/r&b and quality northern soul. I wish I could provide a quality sound clip, but I currently don’t have the ability to record.
Any info or background is greatly welcomed!
