1000+ Northern Soul / Soul 45's from 70's / 80's FOR SALE.
Peter Richer replied to a topic in Record Sales
Hello Roger. Perhaps you could help us collectors a little more with some additional information. 1) If you used the Brown/Koppel price guide to value these records, presumably they must be USA originals (as that is what the guide gives prices on). Could you confirm this please? 2) Also, there must be a predominance of 'cheapies' as, with 1,000+ items totalling around £10k, the average price would be no more than £10 per record. It would be helpful (to most people on a rare soul forum) if you could tell us how many records are valued at, say, £25 or more? 3) To give us an idea of what sort of stuff is on offer, could you please give us maybe half a dozen examples of the higher priced records? My advice (for what it's worth) is that you might do best selling the higher value items individually, then bite the bullet and get rid of all the real cheapies as a job lot to one of the shops you have contacted. I could be wrong, but I'm not sure many people here are going to buy lots of £5 (or less) in value records. Cheers, Peter -
So how many dj on here with bootlegs and re-issue vinyl?
Peter Richer replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
Sadly, too many members here have allowed this Majy chap to deliberately make a mockery of the OVO debate. As already pointed out, it has obviously just been a wind up. There should have been no reply to his original post (or ridiculous follow ups) at all; except to provide a link to one or two previous discussions (which he will have been well aware of anyway) with the comment of 'come back if there is genuinely anything you don't understand, or anything new to add'. For goodness sake, this individual has supposedly been a member here for six and a half years. Can anyone really be that dense? Certainly not our proverbial bootleg playing monkey! Six and a half years of ignorance, folks; and until he started this thread only four - yes, count 'em, FOUR - previous posts. The conclusions are obvious. -
Isn't it 'you're' not 'your' ... and the title is 'Too' not 'To', and 'Soulful' not 'Soulfu'. Ha ha, sorry, we're picking on you today. The typos are very distracting though.
-
Nice. Good luck with it Mark.
-
If I had one, mine would be too! What condition is yours though, Manship's was mint minus - the others are supposed to be fairly trashed?
-
Wow, this could be good. Headline: 'Butch casts doubt on authenticity of Manship auction shocker.' Can't wait to see how this one goes ...
-
I actually have both demos, as well as an issue copy. I can dig them out and provide other details if you want.
-
So what exactly is that? It is not a bona-fide Motown release from 1973, as far as I can tell. The number isn't right for starters. And is it rare (which is what the OP asked)? Please tell us, with information, rather than just post a link with no narrative.
-
What label number on Motown is this? I have assumed we are talking about US 45s. Is that correct, Tez?
-
Four for starters, as in rarest: Frank Wilson (Soul) Patrice Holloway (VIP) Andantes (VIP) Kim Weston - A Little More Love (Tamla)
-
Not any more. Nice pic Okehdownsouth.
-
Nice. I have all eight of those too, every one being pure class. Windy C is no doubt a highly commendable label to complete, tremendous value for money, and a must for all who appreciate Curtis Mayfield's production talents.
-
Thanks David. Yes it is a complete set, and in label number order: from Linda & Vistas (100) to Cavaliers (119).

Larry Clinton "She's Wanted" ISSUE on JM Auction
Peter Richer replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
Quite correct, and an excellent summary. -
Agree with this. Plus, I'm pretty sure when we bought from Soul Bowl back in the 1970s that some of the records had drill holes - as well as crosses on the labels of demos - and they were all listed as mint.
-
Very good spot. I bet there weren't many people who would have been able to make that distinction at the time. Nor that they had different b-sides. Not easy to look it up then either (like I just did!).
-
Could well be, either way it still begs the questions: What was the record on the list? And did anybody either get a bargain, or were they overcharged?
