  1. "then plates taken to Chicago with Jo Armstead and two minute little dimples knocked into them" Anyone lucky enough to have seen Jo Armstead smile (we have, she's gorgeous, come to a not-too-distant-future-future Dig Deeper and see for yourself) would know she still has these same 2 dimples:)
  2. Yes, 2nd song in the set with the amazing drum rolls over the yeah, yeah exhortations that Sticks Evans would have approved of for sure, 9 songs and a 2nd version of You dropped your candy for the encore though we could have picked any to repeat as would have wanted to hear them all again!
  3. We'll be talking to Paul Sindab about this over the weekend for sure, he has a # of connections to these people and places - it wasn't the only club on that block - from his NY days
  4. Charles Bradley seems to make a bit of a habit of that, remember being at a free show he played here outdoors in Fort Greene Park, right as he got to the last tearjerker a huge set of black clouds moved in and unleashed a deluge so intense that in the New York Times review the next day the reporter wrote that his music was so deep that by the end "even the heavens were crying".
  5. Good record agree, have a VG++ spare here too if people are interested
  6. Yes, that can lead to A Tale Of Two Costas, fatal to your credibility and it's permanent.
  7. You should sell a few copies to raise money to replace my computer screen here Pete, the sarcasm dripping from your answer has melted it totally...
  8. Who's Oakes?? Classic Brasseye mention of them here at 0.40
  9. Haven't seen this one mentioned above:
  10. Went through ebay for $493 in May, here: https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/171323707846/Grambling_College_Band_Harlem_Rumble_Obscure_Funk_45_Spontaneous_Arts_mp3 Then popped up for sale again via the good folks on rarenorthernsoul.com this morning for UK1k and seems to have gone already, seems to be a beat-up copy but clearly rare as..., anyone want to add any more details, post a soundfile or proudly announce owning a cleaner copy?

  12. Either version on Resist is Marmite, the uptempo organ set on overload acetate version w Hayes screaming his heart out is a totally different beastie
  13. Go look for their other 45, way rarer and even better, was just in their hometown down in sunny FL last weekend but no luck (of course)
  14. Keep meaning to show mine to Jo Armstead and see what she says about it as she gets the writer's credit on this one
  15. Haha an ex-gf who met him years back commented instantly that the "o" in his name is silent, he used to phone me constantly trying to offer oddball but crap 45's for ridiculous prices and drive me nuts, having said which would be interested in hearing his life story, he apparently was the first dude in rural PA to rock long hair in the early/mid-60s, no idea if he was a musician then or not but he was in that scene for sure, would bet has a stack of memories/stories of local bands around then (that area was amazing for it's mix of music w/ the likes of the Tranells co-existing w/ all the Bridge Society label type outfits, total cross section of garage and soul history combined).
  16. 8 copies currently on Amazon here https://www.amazon.com/Records-Northern-Soul-Various-Artists/dp/tracks/B00ED2OF6G/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1 Ady, when you were doing this comp did you ever come across who was behind the Thousand Faces 45 on Era? Ace mod dancer that one...
  17. Whenever we get together with the lovely Jo Armstead here she always makes sure to point out she thinks this is the worst record she was ever involved with!! (we disagree mightily of course)
  18. Allentown record fair as of yesterday, last spotted going thorough the $1 boxes, he's an eternal optimist is our Mace
  19. Add to the line of non-believers every dancefloor ever tried it on here in NYC, people here just didn't respond to it well, plus after playing it on a guest spot on Finewine's show had a friend go out of his way to tell me it was utter crap, ah well, still a good track and absolute rare as **** but takes a bit of time getting there, unloaded to a happy friend in Europe where it's way more appreciated at least (PS and kudos for the condition of this one, M- is impressive)
  20. Walter Jackson and Junior McCants - at opposite end of the voice ranges but unique and stupefyingly good
  21. B-side is a great suicide ballad too...
  22. Popular spin for Honky at DD and remember turned the good Mr Wright onto a copy at an Allentown a couple of years back, not an easy one to pick up at all - hope you get some good offers Haim
  23. Just hope the are singers getting something out of this, had a dream that when Pharrell came on stage last month at the Emmy's to do his corny current version he'd step aside and let them take over to show the world what real soul is but then woke up, darn The live version is way better but that's a Dig Deeper exclusive of course
  24. Can't remember who sold my Mark III to - Seb? - but do know a few years ago was up in Canada chatting to Martin Koppel and he'd never ever seen one despite living there for donkeys so it's def not an easy one (and agree b-side is better than the US one though know there was an argument on that a few years back haha!)
  25. Oops sorry didn't know that rule, sure here you go: Ed (Super) Gooch on RRC - 2 sided Detroit beat ballad winner, mint-, great and very obscure, last one on here was years back, $100 SOLD
