I agree, I was a bit harsh. But I have seen the team go through hell to get to where they are now, so I'm a little protective of people I admire and who I also am privileged to call friends.
-
and as a question it would have been a good one to add to the conversation. But to give an opinion on her/their marketing approach without knowing their reasoning, is flawed
-
Oh you've just got your nice head on 2day, clearly your not feeling well !!!!
-
Thats also pretty easy to answer. Lot of that promotion was to give the film enough profile to get a distribution deal. These are really hard to come by nowadays and even harder to get one where you break even or profit on the deal. Lots of small independent films get made but never see a commercial release, let alone get their costs back. Elaine has put her heart, soul and money into getting this made and a distribution deal closed. She should be congratulated for even getting this far, as many fail to even achieve this. So your view of her marketing approach is clearly ill informed and written more to see your name it lights, than deliver a considered contribution to this thread
-
Have you got anything positive to say about this film. A lot of people have put a lot of hard work into bringing this together, Elaine and others have risked their own money because they believe in the project. Back off and give the film a chance, when it's released and you've paid your money to see it, take all the shots you like.

As Nick said Frank is from L.A., as is Wilson Williams. Frank Wilson only link to Detroit was that he ran the L.A. studio of Motown in the 60's. Otherwise he has little or nothing to do with the Detroit music scene. As for Friends agree nice record, but this was around in large quantity only a few years ago, so not that obscure. You used to be able to pick it up for under a tenner. Got played a little in the late 80's, early 90's.
