The story goes a bit like this.................
Following a request from a UK dealer in the 80's to put out the previously unreleased 'We Want Freedom/As she slowly slips away', Manny sent the master tapes off to a pressing plant. Somewhere along the line this got messed up and the wrong tapes were sent. So it was pressed as 'We Want Freedom/Don't Ever Hurt Me Girl' the latter having already been released on Lawton. The UK dealer said he did want them without 'As she slowly slips away'. So as Manny is a pragmatist, he wasn't gonna send more money after bad and lost interest in the project. Most copies were thrown away, just keeping a handful, which over the years have found their way to the UK.
About 7 years ago on a visit to Manny I did a deal with him to press it as it was originally intended with 'As she slowly slips away' on and put it out on Roxanne records. We pressed 200 copies, which last year finally sold out. It was never a money making exercise, just a wish to put out two fab sides.
The label was named after my daughter and a bit of a homage to those family named labels from Detroit, back in the day. The label design was done by Malayka and looks great going round on a turntable. The were about 10 copies that came with a handmade art sleeve, which we used as demo's.
