  5. Yes I have two like that and concider them to be original. I'm guessing that they used two pressing plants for some reason or another
  6. As far as I know it wasn't. But a few years ago I sold the one above with the 'Promotion' stamp on the label and was sent it back by the buyer, who informed me that it was a boot as it didn't have a 'Bell Sound' stamp. I couldn't be bothered to argue with him, but recently thought it would be nice to get everyones collective thoughts on this.

  8. I know many will say this is easy, originals have a Bell Sound stamp in run out. But I have two copies which I found in the US, both with old DJ's and both showing many years of wear and neither have 'Bell Sound' stamps. Both do have stamps on label, one 'Promotion', the other 'May 7 1965'. I have put scans of both up here and a stamped copy Thoughts everyone First two have no stamp, last one does

  13. PS Joe was a bit of a journeyman when it came to Detroit groups. When he left the Falcons, he joined The Originals and was the lead singer on 'Good night Irene'. Then later again having a spell with The Contours, before returning to the 80's line up of The Falcons. Lastly the group reformed one more time after his death with one member that worked in the group during the 50's/60's period, Carlos (Sonny) Munro in 2005, but this was short lived.
  14. When speaking to The Stubbs family, they told me that it was recorded in the early 80's as stated on the record. They said it was the last thing that they recorded when the group reformed in the 80's. Also the track sounds like a 80's recording when you listen to it. The Joe Stubbs pressing was released a year before they re-released under The Falcons name, but they are the same recording. Also a member of this line up was another founding member Lance Finney, who we also visited and confirmed what we had been told by Joe's family.

  18. MusicStack are quick and even handed in their approach..............
  19. The one that just closed on Ebay was $30.29, so either someone got a bargain or that's the current market value
  20. That's cuz many didn't listen to RW sets, got there and went straight to the record bar until Richard came on after Russ. But he did play the odd good tune, accidently
  21. Perfect Match - The weights on you / I'll smile again - Philly Town Mint/Mint- Relative unknown to many. Oh so rare, maybe three sold in the last 15 years or so on the web. Just got a bunch of these from James & Dot Bynum's family. Recorded in 1978, three years after his own recording 'Time passes by'. Dot Bynum takes lead vocals on both of these great pulsating uptempo modern soul dancers. James uses his signature driving synth and keyboards as used on his own 45 and on Loveman Ronnie Stokes 12" This has sold for £200+ in the past, here 2Day £40 + P&P £1.50 UK, £3.50 The Rest Of The World, 10 copies to go then that's it, James & Dot sadly passed many years ago, They only did a limited pressing of this 45, so unlikely many more will turn up.

  23. Well when you say it's taking off, it was a big tune for Guy at Stafford and I have seen over 300 dance to it, so an oldie really. But a great tune and a nice guy and super talented producer.
