Interested in seeing a full listing for Frank Virtue's Philly label. But while we are on the subject, can anyone tell me if Cross Fire released more than the one 45 (Take me back)
-
Had a few things on this label before. Not had this one myself, but it does pop up from time to time. Everything on the label is early 70's Dallas recordings, I'll ask Bobby Patterson if he remembers the peeps behind the label, he's usually pretty good on stuff from his city as he was also a DJ

Your Help Needed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday Mike Scott one member of The Scott Three was killed while helping someone across the street. These are two 45's I listed before, thought I sold out, but found a few more. I've also been asked about these more than any other since, so here we go................. Bobbie Roberson - Don't you leave me baby / Don't turn your back on me baby - Bolivia 332 This is the same recordings as The Founders - Bolivia 323 , they came from Bobbie's brother and label owner Leroy 'Roy' Edwards. Roy told me it was released 5 years later than The Founders. Bobbie was the groups lead singer. They were pressed to push the song a second time, but then Roy left New York and they never got released. Anyway a 'Lowrider' classic one side and a nice southern soul mover on the flip, The Founders regularly sell for £150 + The Bobbie Robinson 2Day at the bargin price of £35 + £1.50 in the UK, + £2.50 The Rest Of The World Big Soul Sam spin and around Europe on this killa southern label that hardly produced a dud. Has sold for over £100 in the last few years, here 2Day at the bargin price of £45 Stunning sophisticated modern soul with a killa deep funk flip Ray Batts - Love me / Don't take my love - Faces Stone Mint £45 +£1.50 UK shipping £2.50 Rest Of The World

OK, lets start with the bad new. Stafford, The Reunion has been put on ice, it will go ahead, but not until next spring. Guy Hennigan has to be in the Far East and Ady Pountain has a commitment in Chicago he can't get out of and I won't do it half arsed, as I've said before. There is great desire amoungst those that used to attend that we have another get together and as I said it will go ahead when all elements can come together. But anyway, not going to waste the date. Last time we did the reunion, we had a spirit of Stafford room with Butch and some others in there, that was well received. Several of us have spoken on many occasions about doing something along those lines again. Have also been ask on many occasions why don't you do another venue like Stafford ? Along side this I have spent the last few years discussing with many attendees around venues in the country what the like and don't like about the scene today, venues, music etc. out of this has come several recurring themes: Why are there some many rooms these day, unlike successful venues of the past where the main room played much more across the board, Stafford, The Ritz, Keele to name a fewSo many venues these days have poor sound systemsGreat venue, but so hard to get toSame records being played over and over on the same nightThere were a lot more views, but time and space prohibit them all being listed. But taking much of this on board have decided to use the date for a trail event to see if the interest is really there. The venue, The Box, Crewe, located in the town center opposite a main line rail station and only a few miles off the M6. So central and easily accessible. Music policy, a bunch of mates playing the best records they can, keeping the dance floor happy with no dictate from the promoter. Awesome in house sound system with constant sound engineers. Everyone together in one room, simple really.................

Here's a odd one for ya. It's a Impact Studio 7" acetate from Philly, by Bobby King. It was produced by the same guy that produced The Precisions - My sense of direction is blown. The track saw a comp as part of the Impact material that came out on CD about 10 years ago, but otherwise it's unreleased. It has belting uptempo 60's soul backing, but the vocals are very R&B. Anyway, up for sale if I get a good offer, you decide ..............................SOLD

crossing The Tracks' - Weekly Show On Gfm
Dave Thorley replied to Dave Thorley's topic in All About the SOUL
------------------ A Big Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------- Last night on my radio show 'Crossing The Tracks' I ask people to send in a donation £5, £10 what ever they could. The station is a community based black music operation. These type of station do a great job in the community as well as providing a home for soul music shows like mine. Anyway in a week through this and other things you have given £300 to the station and that helps a lot, the margin between success and failure is small. If you didn't listen but would like to donate something ................ Follow the link At the bottom of the page is a Paypal link https://www.gloucesterfm.com/about/support-gfm/ Thank you all once again ................ -
