  1. That's the guy, got 3-5, but never got any money back, still one more crook off the streets
  2. Hi Pete Try Paypal, as you'll get nothing out of Ebay, they couldn't give a sh*t. The picture is clearly done to decieve. But you always take a chance on these job lots. I've stopped buying them as I can't say they have ever been much good. There was one guy in Detroit offering soul in 1000 lots a few years back that just took the money and never sent the records. In the end a nice Detroit police man chased the whole thing down in his spare time and got a conviction, but not before the guy had take about 10 of us for alot of money. Dave
  3. Lead singer Junior Campbell went on to make a couple of good singles, one of which you could probably get away with, "Sweet illusion". What a killer track, just love it
  4. OK Ken You win, that's awesome, get Butch to play it
  5. Also several good covers by 70's/80's god's The Jam. But here another odd ball, great song murdered by some French/Canadian Claude Francois-Soudain Il Ne Reste Qu'une chanson-Nobel
  6. Just going through a box of New Wave stuff to put on Ebay and I came across this, A cover version of Don Thomas-Come on train. Why, did they record it where did they hear it. The Group is called The In-Citers out of Santa Cruz, Cal,. On the record, under the title it gives the writer credits as 'Unknown'!!!!!!! I know I am going to regret this but let's have some more examples of odd ball cover versions.

  9. This parrot is dead, deceased, no more, it is an ex-parrot..... But the great thing about Detroit pressings is that they are often bomb proof, you pays your money and takes a chance, just say it does play well what a record to own.

  12. I must be the odd one out here, I loved it and the great flip 'Girl I call my baby', also it was always a floor filler at Stafford. Got mine from Gary Rushbrook, who in turn had got it from Richard Searling. Gary sold me this and The Lovers on Frantic for £120.00, when Wigan ended. The Bobby Wisdom was on a white test pressing, which Dave Greet now has. Can't remeber what happen to the Lovers, but it was a nice red & white demo

  20. Sorry John But there are three Ivory Joe Hunter, great blues R&B singer Ivy Joe Hunter, Motown House producer, writer and artist. Joe Hunter, Member of the original Funk Brothers and the guy you see most on independant Detroit records as a producer. I have meet both the Detroit ones in the last 4 years. Ivy Joe Hunter also came over to the UK for Chris King and I some years ago at Bretby, and last November I sat down in a room with Jo Hunter and Jack Ashford in Detroit for a chat, so I know there are two of them. Dave
  21. Ivy Joe Hunter only had a few release, he was mainly a writer and producer at Motown. Also this name always trows up confusion. There are three artists with similar name Ivory Joe Hunter, great blues R&B singer Ivy Joe Hunter, Motown House producer, writer and artist. Joe Hunter, Member of the original Funk Brothers and the guy you see most on independant Detroit records as a producer. Joe Hunter also got Ivy Joe Hunter his first break at Wingate records. Can't help with record as I wasn't there, love to know what it was there played though. Dave
  22. Over the years many dj's on the soul scene have used an alias to dj with. But who was the first, why did they do it (taxman maybe) and can anyone tell us why they choose the names they did. Now I mean real aliases, not nick names like Butch. A few I remember from the past Frank (Ian Dewhurst), Famed Leed DJ Kojack (The late John Harvey) Founder of Inter City Soul Club and the first Yate allniter Blue Max (Max Millard), Cats DJ Pep (Just forgot his real name) Wolverhampton, Wigan and the world Soul Sam (Martin Barnfather) A little known DJ from somewhere up north Colin Bee (?????) DJ and Manager of Shakatak Colin Curtis (?????) DJ legend from the Mecca Dave
