  5. Hi Pete Did your day get any better. My sons side won at rugby, so happy now.
  6. Go to the inner city of most european cities and the common music of the young kids is hip hop, american culture is just as strong there. In fact in many german cities it is even more so because of the strong US miltary presence. You will find many Hip Hop clothing stores and music shop. Soul is an underground scene as here. The difference is they don't have the same holier than thou politics of the UK
  7. Just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Sorry, Sorry Sorry sack cloth for the rest of the day Dave
  9. A big thanks to Chalky, who took my angry call in good spirit this morning. See weekend records tread where it all started. Happy man now
  10. Gave up the Alice Band, you're right makes you very grumpy. But off to watch my son play rugby soon, always cheers me up
  11. I must be having a bad day. how do I now insert the sound file I have put in the library into a posting
  12. So how do I add the sound clip I have put in the library
  13. AS I said got too early
  14. Generally I love this site. But the help functions are poor, infact where is a help button on the main header. You ask for people to use the sound library so I'm uploading a sound clip there, but where is simple instruction to insert into a posting. When you complete a post where is a simple click on button so you can insert the sound clip from the library. Now a whole bunch of you are now going to tell me it is easy, well it's not for me Got up to early, not in a good mood Dave
  15. Some records just get you up for the weekend, here one that always does it for me. 60's fans run for the hills 6mins of heaven Norma Jean-Saturday(Bernard Edwards and Nile Roders at their best)
  16. Fortunatly only DJing, great weekend, one of the best in europe. You should get yourself over there Dave
  17. Hi Chris Although what we did really worked well, the modern room, for a while became a real standard bearer and the northern room was always buzzin'. I have to say what you did will always stand as one of the great 90's soul nights. Look forward to seeing you in Nuremburg Dave
  18. I always have mixed feelings about this event. We had so much fun there. But running it was not so nice, all the shit that went on behind the scenes. Chris king used to get nasty phone calls at home, not nice for his kids when they would pick up the phone. Other promoters ringing up the local drug squad. Every time I stop doing a venue, I say that was the last i'll do, then after 5 or 6 years you think maybe it wasn't so bad. Lets hope it's changed and running Villa will be a joy Dave
  19. Anytime Mate
  20. The 80's was a great time for rare soul, you could say it was when it got it's second wind. Underground, not sure about that, but it wasn't so media friendly. But the influx of new, young people gave it a sparkle. As to the couple of comments about the future and the soul scene outside the UK, have to agree. I travel a fair bit to europe to DJ and do a monthly gig in Germany. Great DJ's much younger crowd, up for everything from 60's northern & funk to current soulful R&B and house. I get asked to play there cuz of what i play today, they couldn't give a flying rip about the past. Your only as good as your last set, which is great you have to work hard to get their respect, and that how it should be. A bit of a plug I know, but thats what we want to do with the Villa event. Bring those DJ's over here to play along side good UK DJ's. Maybe some of their cool spirit will rub of on us and have a positive effect in the UK. The future is everyone coming together internationally, northern soul may have started here, but now days that means little. Dave
  21. Hi Mate It is Richards old copy, remember him getting cut when he sold it. He sold a bunch of stuff to him and got most of them cut onto dubs before he sent them out. Audio disc blanks were very common over here in the 70's. Many of the cutters used them as they were much cheaper than UK blanks even with shipping. Also it was very common to keep down cost and use discs that already had a pop record on the other side. Ian Clark used to use a cutter in London that picked up old disc round the markets that only had one side used and cut onto these. I have a few he got done for me way back then with pop and reggae flips. Dave
  22. Think thats the right order
