  1. Why, if everyone had accepted the scene as it was in the 70's then the Mecca wouldn't have happen or Stafford in the 80's, or The Orwell, or Soul Essence. No storm the Bastille
  2. Just put up a shed load more on the bay, take a peep https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZdave_t_top_dogQQhtZ-1
  3. I have and did, it's not been this short in years. Gone is the alice band, the pony tail, this is me looking normal
  4. Spot on. But I think he looks great with long hair
  5. Was chatting to Colin Curtis at the weekend. In the conversation he said "things will be much better when our generation pass on". We had been discussing the same old, same old about acceptance of modern releases, going to europe and playing 'The whole of soul' to a much younger crowd and them accepting it all. Is it the 'we know best', 'the definition of xxxx is' that is holding back the whole development of the rare soul scene. Sorry Colin to draw you in from the sidelines
  6. Trust me the lovely locals were great by comparison with the local plod. Put in the back of a meat wagon for the 5 min trip to the nick. Took 20 mins and a good kicking. Bring back community policing Now Dursley, my home town much more civilized. No meat wagon, just a kicking
  7. It was that or the cold, it was freezing that night. Chris's birthday bash with Ivy Jo Hunter, Edwin Starr and Tommy Hunt. Great night
  8. I've seen 2 ice ages pass trying to upload this!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Hi All Going through some studio discs today and found this. Got it from Popcorn, he can't remember. All it has on a stripe label is 'Since you been gone' (wrong master)
  10. Hi Chris CJ Surge is one of those harder to find Detroit 12". Someone said there were a few around Manchester in the late 80's.
  11. Ah Stroud nick, not a nice place paid a one night only visit there after a soul nite at the Sub-Rooms.
  12. Yes strange! Got it from Ernest Kelly, but he couldn't remeber any of the history that went with it. Sounds late 60's early 70's could have been one of the first things he worked on with her. I'll try and push him to recall next time I see him.
  13. See what you think when I get it uploaded, Picked it up a few years ago in Detroit
  14. Might give it a spin, used to play it at Stafford and Bretby of the Jobett 3 disc promotion LP from the mid 70's, thats also where the Family Affair comes from. But you have to hear the first track C J Surge, just heaven. Plays ok when I just tried it
  15. Your kindness has no limits But you need to find a better sound clip insertion solution, I got 10mins older doing this
  16. Tuesday morning, and thought you might like to listen to some thing. Now the upload of the sound files will take awhile.
  17. Bugger, how could I forget young David Greet
  18. To get many of the old Yate dj's together would be a major task Ian Clark-personal stituation makes unlikely Steve Smith-lives in Germany Paul Guntrip, Jacko, Kojac and Jethro-Sadly Passed Dave Withers-lives in the US Gary Rushbrooke-Left the scene with no wish to return Brian S-Who knows Soul Twins-? Mack-? That leaves me, Ady Pountain, Hippo, Tony Ellis, Pep and Blue Max. I may have missed a few but, not easy to have a true re-union and thats all that left of the dj's that worked over the three promoters that ran it, ho-hum
  19. A Gloucester coach anywhere, Leon, Denis and Gabby fighting most of the way, Gabby often fighting with his girl friend Joanne. Boy how did a girl that small punch so hard. Usually getting stop by the squad before we'd even got outside the city limits. Coach got bricked twice, once at the Plymouth Allniter and once on a trip to St Ives. Happy days
  20. Hi Ken Why did you lock in down so early, been out all day, went to responed and couldn't. Great record loved it then still do. What was the story anyone ?. Don't think this is the same George Clinton and I'm sure it never got a US 45 release. Dave

  24. Was talking to Roger Williams last night and he reminded me of another BMU(Black Men United)-U should Know. Killer tune
  25. Easy to get, cheap as chips. Whole bunch on GEMM 45 or 12. That recording is the full lenght 12" version. But as you know quality is often not about value just love it. Glad your all enjoying it Dave
