  1. And the viewing figures for I'm A Celebrity are what? 8 million, something like that? That's a lot of people to make a sweeping generalisation about, oh and what about the 15 million who watch Coronation Street, all of those as well? Shame they can't all get BBC 4 and watch the arts programs isn't it Hi Pete Another good day at the office!!!!!!! Switch off the computer and get outside.
  2. About 15 years ago I found 30 copies of Billy Hambric and the Curly Hammers Band at a car boot fair in Oxford. The guy had these and about 10 other UK pop things for sale in a box. He wanted 10p each for them. When I asked where they had come from and did he have anything else, he replied "10p each, do you want them or not"!!!!!!!!! Well it would have been rude not to.

  7. I have a soft spot for it as a southern record. Russell's voice is sooo twangy it's untrue, and I'd rather listen to that than some things I've heard out at allniters recently.

  9. "I am free of all prejudices. I hate everyone equally..." W C Fields Good day, today Pete
  10. Where can my baby be, was recorded in Nashville. The 2 cliffords grew up together in Knoxville, then Clifford Curry moved to Nashville where he still live to this day. Clifford Russell asked his old friend to help him to get into the record business, which Clifford Curry did, by writing him the song and producing it along with Rob Galbraith from Nashville. Clifford recorded a few more soul tunes with the Martells, and one more on A La Carte, before switching to country, where he had a lot of sucess. Clifford Russell still live in Knoxville. PS, neither Clifford's or Rob have any copies of "Where can my baby be"

  20. PS this can also be applied to DJ's some charge more like Sam cuz it's his income not a hobby. Also he's a fine top DJ, but all the same he pays tax on income has traveling exspenses etc, etc. But pricing is important. John Anderson gave me some good advice when I started. Price to sell, forget ego about having great tunes on your shelf, you want them off the shelf and out the door. Don't worry if something sells for more via someone else than you have sold for. Decide what you need to make on each record and then never look back, be happy it's sold.
  21. Your right Tony, many people don't concider some of the cost involved running as a full time business. We have over 200,000 pieces in stock most of these 12" or albums, that means warehouse cost every month. Then VAT on sales, company tax, insurance. Don't want people feeling sorry for us, but you have to concider, that you are often comparing guys that sell as a sideline or from home and fly a little under the radar, when it comes to tax and vat, with others that run larger opperation with all the costs, cuz they can't hide from the tax. Nearly all are sales are paypal or credit cards and so are auditable to the last penny. Not complaining, I'm happy, it just fact. Also we buy most of our stock from the US, thats hard work and not cheap in total. Plus you have to entre the odd crackhouse, and generally not nice places to find so of those elusive tunes and even have the odd gun pointed at you.
  22. No I was reffering to my own, as maybe not the first thing that comes to mind, but it does have a great affect on friday traveling now days. Last friday I had to pick up people for the event on sat, from the Stanstead airport from Oxford. Only route was up to Milton Keynes and across country via Royston. As I crossed over the M40, M1and A1 all were a car park. When we returned by same route about 8.30pm little had changed. Any promoter wanting to run a friday event needs to offer free teleporting.
  23. That was quick
  24. Right with everyones help now got the right list, thanks Steve and Ricky. The couple extras should have been played what a shame we didn't, but time just flew bye
