  3. Dear old Gino never gave up on trying to get a hit or do a deal on many of his records. Wondered how many variations there were on this release, here are three I have.
  4. Yep it was fun, some of the credit needs to go to Chris Anderton and his soul nights which lay the ground for the allnighters we followed with. But yes Butch, Graham Ellis and others in the 60's room, and the really popular modern room with the likes of Gavin Page, Myself, Ian (Polly) Palmer, Cliif Steel, and Young Richard . A moment in time, but now days it does get over looked as many of the returnees weren't around and it was a little hardcore that used to frequent venues like this.
  5. ------------------- Bretby Allnighter Modern Room ---------------- Something for the weekend a little hour long mix from this little venue we used to love in the 90's, enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.mixcloud.com/dave-thorley/bretby-modern-room-revisited/

  7. FOUR THOUGHTS KISSES AND ROSES anyone, cash or trades from my site ..........................................www.topdogrecords.co.uk
  8. Found a small stack of these so though I'd offer them a fair price, has sold even last year at as much as £50-£100 ..................... Rickey Andrews - The next time / Take me back - R.W.A. £30 Plus P&P Killa Atlanta funky soul from Rickey back with a stunning southern deep soul, that is also popular on the 'Lowrider' scene. Rickey pressed just 500 copies and think this is going to be the last at a bargin price .All copies are stone mint, first come first served
  9. I don't know if the Japanese guy was a soul collector, but as I said at the very beginning it is a very rare British Freak Beat/Psych 45 and has sold privately and on Ebay for that on a fair few occasions.
  10. I agree with all that it's not a soul 45 and it's not for me, that's why I sold it, but in this great melting pot each to his own. Have noticed at a few big northern events, well the few I've been to that a couple of the DJ's have been playing psych/beat 45's including Sean Chapman, hope this isn't the future.
  11. PS there are a few nice R&B/Soulish 45's on the label
  12. A rare English Psych 45 that has been played before under several C/U names in the past. Recently sold one to Japan for around £400

  16. As always only a handful, so first come, first served.................................... Eddie Billups - No love have I / My girl - Shurfine £10 +P&P Early recording from Eddie, recorded down in Atlanta and produced by the great Wendall Parker. Here on the original label and totally stone mint, like it had just come from the pressing plant This is a stunning deep soul winner that is also popular on the Lowrider scene. Cool vocals and great arrangement, come with the bonus of a raucous 60's dancer on the flip..............................
  17. Just found a few of this at the bottom of a box, so gonna put them out a great price. One of Sir Shambling's highly praised southern deep 45's, that comes with the bonus of a killa Crossover flip. From the little Shreveport label that had more soul than you can shake a stick at.............. This is a bargin, two great sides that have sold for close to £100 in the past George H. Franklin - Gone for good / That's how it is when you're in love - Faces 2015 All copies are stone mint £25 + P&P (as a friends payment)
  18. I'm sure someone had played it somewhere before, but in conversation with Tim & Butch none of us could remember it being played so I thought I'd cover it up. Like so many tunes around in the early 80's I think it had been in some of the late 70's Soul Bowl packs. But at the time of playing it John didn't put two and two together until I told him, then he said 'I think i've still got a few of those'. Simular story with Dan Brantley aka Sam Dees - Lonely for you baby. The first copy came from Ady Pountain and he suggested covering it as Dan Brantley. Although John didn't attend many venues, he did keep his ear to the ground as to what was getting played. He asked me on several visits what this record by Dan Brantley was I was playing, but I kept shtum, partly because unbeknown to him I was buying a few at a time from him It wasn't until I rang him to get a third helping of the Sam Dees that he twigged and said he wouldn't let me have anymore unless I told what the deal was, good old John, you could never pull the wool over his eyes for to long.
  19. Got mine from Butch & Tim Ashebend and covered it up as Mel Britt, told John Anderson what it was after I played it at Stafford for about 6 months. He then pulled out a small stock he had and offered them for sale

  21. Again agree Pete, but having met him I can tell you he is a sharp operator and little gets past him. Lastly Nasco did use silver and black design for other releases so it is plausible that it could appear on both designs. Here is the larks 45
  22. You win Pete, he clearly lied when he told me he knew
  23. Very true Pete, but he would know what or wasn't pressed as he would get paid on a second pressing run as the artists and the writer
  24. Yes as it has been written extensively about him being a founding member of The Impressions, a member of The Brooks Brothers and the lead vocalist and writer of Bits & Pieces. Only two weeks ago there was a an obituary to his brother Arthur Brooks of all the same groups as he died
  25. Richard Brooks told me that it was repressed by the label, because the first run sold out, he also had both pressings at his house.
