  1. Hi Mate Yes a mate has the Anything man 12". We found them in a record shop in Trenton, New Jersey. He kept that and I had The Secrets and Bobby Moore, "Trying to hold on"
  2. That scan is from my copy I got back in 81 and played at Stafford, the boot is a looky likey and looks the same but is made of much thicker wax. The Lasso one is a legit remixed re-issue, but in the mix they cut off some of the original long intro
  3. Big tune in it's day, think I first heard this at Wigan covered up by the Manc DJ that did the last but one set, before Dave Evison took over that set or was it Siz that first played it
  4. This came out in 75 as a 12" remix. The 1974 on the label was the copyright date for the tune, but not the 12" date of release.
  5. No nothing to do with rarity, time and lenght was said in jest. I think it is a much fuller and rounded production, and his vocals more pleading. The Jesse Henderson version has always left a lump in my throat, Bobby Cutchins, I think is just nice. But it's all down to the ear of the beholder. As for other peoples opion, everyone is entitled to their own, both versions were played at Stafford and the Jesse Henderson was always more popular.
  6. Got mine from him as well
  7. There is a Mod club in Moscow called The Datcha, plays lots of soul and northern standards
  8. Still hard on an original and lets not be hearing the Bobby Cutchins nonsence, leave it standing by 5" and 4 mins I did it again - jesse henderson - land of hits 15015 refosoul
  9. Always, ahead of the game Rod . Never turns up now in Detroit, that could of been just about all the stock in the shop, which shop
  10. There is some killer 12" only stuff that now days would be just right, thats why I'm asking, I'm interested in stuff I don't know. Original copies of Best Friend Around, must be rare, before it got pressed I sold one for £400.
  11. Sound just up my street then
  12. I can remember there being a big rush of 12's being played at Wigan. Keith Minshall's set changed from 45's to 12" over night. One night he did his whole set from 12" Whirlwind, Jobell, Gentlemen & Their Ladies, Four Below Zero, Lalo Schifrin ETC
  13. Also Banzai-Chinise Kung Fu/Ernie Bush-Breakaway-UK Contempo, came out in 75
  14. There must have been about 20 commercial releases in 1975 in the US
  15. 12" of Curtis-How can I tell her, not easy to find
  16. One of the major Detroit collectors, in Detroit, recently paid $400 for one. Although it was said that in the mid 80's a few turned up in Manchester.
  17. Clearly thats wrong cuz in the US a whole bunch came out in 1975
  18. This one is hard to find. Out of Detroit only ever seen a few copies here and in the US. Be my love - c j surge - boston heights 15014 refosoul
  19. Following along from the other tread about earliest 12", what do we all think is the hardest one to find. This might throw up a few we don't know. Scans and sound clips if anyone has them would be good too.
  20. I have white 12" Scepter test pressing of Bobby Moore-Trying to hold on and The Secrets. But can't find their release dates
  21. Hi All Not sure if this has been covered before. People used to say the it was Double Exposure-Ten Percent. But over the years I have heard it sugested that there may have been others?
  22. Great singer, nephew of Gino Washington out of Detroit. Should have recorded a lot more but 'The Jones' got in the way, real shame
  23. Hi Pete Have every sympathy with you, but you should know after all these years when buying these job lots you have to take a chance. 80% will work in your favour, 20% don't. But push him hard for splitting the difference with the return shipping Dave
  24. Here are a couple of other great sites from the US. https://www.georgiasoul.com/ https://www.dcsoulrecordings.com/ https://www.ohiosoulrecordings.com/ https://newyorksoulrecordings.com/ Check these ones out Dave
