  5. I find reading all this strange and sad. I've always loved coming over to the fair county. Always had a great welcome when I've DJ'd there, and have some great mates living in the county. Sadly as someone else said, you get the odd dig here and there in every part of the world. Back in the day, Northhampton produced some of Staffords greatest supporters and attendees. So if you see an event on in the county, get along, as you will be sure of a good night out PS, sorry to say though, that although it maybe the 'Rose Of The Shires', but 'God's Own Country' is Gloucestershire, Hey Leon

  12. Hi All I see that JM has the 2 sided demo of 'Keep on lovin' me in the 3rd edition at £1500. Is it that much, why? or how much would you say it is worth Dave
  13. A unique special person. Thoughts are with you, William and Charlotte Dave
  14. I find this a very interesting tread. Just underlines the magic of recordings made back then, that although you can achieve so much of what they did, that magic somthing is so elusive. Can put him intouch with guys in Detroit from back in the day if it helps him with the project. Dave
  15. Yes something about the drums, right near the intro sound very modern, the reverb on the drum?. Plus the whole thing is so clean. Don't know how many track recording it is, but that might have something to do with it.
  16. Tell him to stick a vocal on it and I'd play it , Go nice next to Billy Taylor Trio
  17. Think it's a nice remake. The reverb is good, always a tricky thing to try and recreate. I remember getting a tour round studio A in Detroit and the guy telling me that at first they used to have two speakers in the attic space and a mic. Pipe the sound up during thye recording, then pick it back up through the mic to get a reverb effect. Dave
  18. Van Horn is a common name around Memphis. Has a large community that origins are German/Dutch , so much so that there is a large area on the outskirts of town called, German Town. I believe from a couple of contacts there that Ron Van Horn is black singer, also all other releases on the label (Rav) are soul. I have a copy and it sounds like a soul tune to me, a bit smoltsy maybe, but soul all the same.
  19. It is a wax only track as others have said on the LP, never got a 12" or 45 release. The remix is on the Hot Trax series that came out of Califiornia. These where a series of remixes for DJ's (Late 70's-early 80's) limited pressing by subscription. Both versions played at Stafford, first the LP as a new release, then about 2 months later the remix when it came through
