  1. Well it's no longer going to be just a memory, see you all tonight
  2. And 50 other great pieces closing in the next 15 hours https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZdave_t_top_dog Thanks for looking Dave
  3. Confused, me, never . I thought the Bee Gee group had Chicago credits, have to see if I can pull it out later. I suppose it must have sounded such a cool name back in the 60's/70's and as they were all relatively small groups, each didn't know of the others existance.
  4. Wondered the same myself, good sales hype though
  5. I've made trips to Detroit throughout most of my adult life, got to know the people in the industry there very well and think I have a good knowledge of what was released in the city. But on every trip I find or someone shows me a record I've never seen before and thats just one city. Just love it and the internet keeps showing up even bigger gaps in my knowledge, just love it. Which inturn answers the question some ask 'are there any unknown records still to be discovered'
  6. The other ones are 21st Century/21st Century Ltd RCA/Golden Tone/BeeGee-Chicago group. Produced by Marvin Smith/Donny Hathaway 21st/21st Century Joy/Ultra-Detroit group produced by Chocker Campbell, were a later incarnation of all or some of the Royal Jokers
  7. some starting to close in the next 24 hours thanks for looking
  8. Has me thinking have we had a Richard Popcorn Wylie day on this site, if not why not
  9. Pete we agree, now steady don't want you thinking that I'm going to give up on modern soul
  10. I like the Piles approach. Pile of maybe tunes, pile of nearly in the play box, Pile that I must file some time, pile I just got. Go through them every now and again, always find a suprise, just like having a U.S. record store at home
  11. Count us in, as long as Ady is still alive, he's much older than me you know
  12. Some of these gigs have had Brad 'Peoples Records' Hale and his band backing him up.
  13. Still got my Sillhouettes white test pressing!!!!!!!? JM what your memory of these Dave
  14. Morning Pete Thanks for that. Detroit stuff has always had a element of 'smoke and mirrors'. When you speak to the owners of many of the small indy lables, there is often fleeting mention of PEOPLE coming in and getting extra copies pressed on hot titles. But then realising what they have said, the conversation is moved on quickly Although many of them are nice old chaps now days, you can just tell that in their day they were sharp operators. Many a shady story comes out when it's late at night and they have had a few beers
  15. Hi Baz Never been a great one for revivals, did the Stafford one a few years ago as a re-union, with no plans for another. Had the same feeling about this, but lets see never say never. We have got someone who will be taking photo's so we'll get them posted up after. Have a brother in Sidney that I've never visited, so could come over a do a mini one in Oz, know Ady would be up for coming as well Have fun at your wedding Dave
  16. Hi Scott Haven't looked at the site for a while, looking good. Dave
  17. Things must be slow if you went to all that trouble, I think it's very sweet of you. But your right, in fact the moment I sent the post I thought the same, but to late. Ofcourse what I should have said is mainland europe
  18. I have spoken to Popcorn several times about which is which, but he's getting old or doen't want to tell. I have it on a... white label test pressing, off centre white label test pressing Green issue Orange issue Never seen a demo apart from the test pressing What do we think!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. They love modern and funk in most of europe Simon
  20. Agree about his Evejim release, a cracking little tune and a bargin. I'll put up a sound clip later
  21. Agree about his Evejim release, a cracking little tune and a bargin . I'll put up a sound clip later
  22. Yes Dave, but even with the smoking ban arriving over there, does make it a cheap weekend away, listening to soul music
  23. Steve Snook just sent me an email. He was thinking of going to the Bamberg weekender next may. He just looked at flights from Stanstead to Nuremberg and currently you can fly for 1 euro each way Even with a few taxes here and there, this does show that you can go to euro weekenders cheaper than those in the UK. With smoking bans, the cost of petrol, accomodation, food and beer over here, is it time to move all the UK weekenders over there.
  24. In some cases these where made for use with jukebokes. As they tend not to slip/skid as much as the large whole ones do. As steve said some 7" came out at 33 1/3 a fair few in the 70's not sure why.
