  3. I thought that this was the harder first issue, but someone told me I was wrong. So John M please come in and help sort this out. Dave
  4. Dennis was good as anyone in the north, back then. Even more so when he danced next to his brother Rob, they could break simultaniuosly into acrobatrics. Jump high into a back drop, frount drop, one leg kick with leg next to their heads, down to a splitz and up into a spin. Awesome would be a fair description.
  5. Not a lot Ken, there does seem to be a few nice soul tracks by him and some fairly rare. Dave
  6. Hi Ken Been so long since the clips have worked that I'd forgotten, sorry Dave

  17. Hi All I'm in charge of pyrotechnics for the day, just kidding, all though that would be a very Pete thing. We would like to throw up some images of Pete and maybe even cut in some of his video interview on a wall at the event. I'm thinking, powerpoint slide show, on a loop, with the video cut in. So I need from any helpful folks out there. Jpegs of photo's of Pete The loan of a laptop (needs to be fairly new for memory size and speed) Portable digital projector (Business presentation type with leads to hook up to lap top). So if any of you can help, let me know. PM or davethorley@aol.com
  18. I can still remember seeing the early reports of RFK's assassination. Although really to young to fully understand, I did have a feeling that the world was going mad. I made my earlier observation, particularly because on my recent trip I got into a conversation about the subject with a old member of the 'Panthers' in Detroit and a very vocal Syl Johnson, in Chicago. Things seem to run deep with them and still touches a nerve all these years later. Both conversation were directed by them. I do not feel knowledgable enough to even start on such a subject, but found both fasinating. Dave PS, As for playing excerts as intro's, DJ's on the House and Hip Hop scenes have been doing this from day one. Some times it works, others it doesn't.
  19. So here's the new release Looks great spinning round on a deck
  20. Just on my way to bed, will do it in the morning Dave
  21. PS I have a test pressing and this time the right tracks have been pressed.
  22. Hi Boba Yes it is an un-released track recorded at the same session. Infact there were two, which I have licenced from Manny Campbell the producer and holder of the rights. Manny now lives in Atlanta and runs the sucessful Midtown-Coastal record labels. The Emandolyn pressing should have had both tracks on but there was a mess up with the masters and the wrong recording pressed, ie the Lawton track was pressed instead. We are having them pressed as i write at National in Nashville, the tracks will be 'When she slowly slips away/Soul freedom. Relaese will be later this year.
  23. Yes Paul, to many 45's are a creation from god and 12's the devils work
  24. I also would like to add my tribute to the man, have both the Gordy and Black Forum Lp's of speeches. Some very moving moments, thankfully saved for all time. Now please take this as an observation and not my view. But interesting that when you speak to many that were politically active in the U.S. in the 60's, they veiwed him to be to simplistic and naive. Many sight Malcom X as the more definative voice off freedom, of that time. I am not informed enough to pass comment, but think from what I know that both played an important part, in a change that has sadly, not yet been fully realised. Malayka and I experienced a couple of occasions in the south on our recent trip, that shows this still to be true.
