  8. Interesting subject, just been loading a bunch onto our data base to put on the site. I bought out a record promo guy in Detroit some years ago, part of the deal was a bunch of CD singles. When they arrived, just left them in the boxes and never really paid them any attention. Started going through them a while back, lots of stuff by artists I've never seen before or tracks by southern artists that don't appear on albums. Mainly from the 90's, but nice modern soul.

  19. Hi Pete Just had another spin through, many have the studio count in on them, also some have the backing singer track on as well. Plus there is some difference in the quality on some which would lead me to think they are from tapes.
  20. I don't think so listening to them Pete, also I know Joe Hunter and the boys had a hand in putting them out, as they weren't getting anything from Motown after all the interest in them. But I might be wrong.
  21. I've had these years and never played them. Bugger me 'All the time' and 'On the avenue' are good!!!!!!!!!
  22. Cheers Pete So looks like no of the tracks from 'In the snakepit' are here. Dave
  23. Can anyone let me have a track listing for 'The Best Of' CD. Trying to see which of the tracks on 'In The Snakepit' doesn't appear on that CD Dave
  24. I have a a fair few Bell Sound Studio Disc. Just about anyone could use their services. But it did tend to be New York/New Jersey labels and artists. Although I have got some Bobby Womack Minit recordings on Bell sound. As said before, the labels have a slight gloss/wax finish to them and most are typed info and faily complete as they were a very professional company, but not all. The discs produced there had many purposes, as a form of test pressings, promotional for favored DJ's; for record label internal product meetings playing different takes before deciding which was released; quality control discs and independant artists producing them to hawk round labels trying to get signed. I have some that are ABC artists, but a different artist and song on each sides. These I guess were produced for internal use only. Again as already stated, knowing the history is everything. Find one with an unreleased track, different take, owned by the artists or producer themselves and you have a important bit of music history. But it is a bigger mine field than collecting vinyl, if you can't get good history on a disc, beware.
  25. Pop the Glenda McLeod round the house and I'll tell you Dave
