  6. Hi All Well at long last we are able to release the fantastic Rotations previously un-relaesed tracks, 'When he slowly moves away/We want freedom. They will be available from March 22nd through a number of outlets across europe, these are being finalised now. I know many of you have sent me notes on a regular basis asking about it's release, sorry it's taken so long. This is a legal limited 500 pressing from Manny Campbell. We have had them pressed at National Pressing in Nashville to give them that authentic US look and feel. I have even used my daughters name for the label in homage to labels from back in the day, ie Karen, Anna, Moira etc.

  11. Some of them were involved in The Fatback Band as well. Boy they got around
  12. Agree many people offer varied stuff in one list. I also buy across the board, so would mean looking through more sections. But I have to say looking at just the last days post the warning is not being listen to by some. Not a easy thing all round and at the moment the sheer number makes it tricky.
  13. I wish I knew. All I know is it all happen on one day, lots of charges to my credit card Amex and mean £1000's and lots of currency moving through my paypal account. All in the hands of the police and the to companies involved, now.
  14. I have just had the mis-fortune of having my paypal account and credit card hacked. This info may help others. Trying to speak to Paypal live is a nightmare, but I have just achieved this. This is how I did it, trying to use the UK numbers is useless as you only get an automated sevice, so Ring the US number 402-935-2050 You get some menu options Choose more options Then choose security This will get you through to a live opperator If you get passed to another department you will need to be patient, it took me 10 mins Hope this is helpful Dave
  15. Believe it was the same guy. Al was one of the 60's/70's big name DJ's up there with Frankie Crocker and E Rodney Jones. He was also somewhat of a empressario in Detroit manager of Al Hudson and Oneway. But he came to a sticky end, used to take payola but not always play the tunes, was eventually shot. Earnest Kelly, who was in partnership with him in the early 70's tells a great story of spending the whole day in their office on James Cuzons, under the desk because disgruntaled people were taking random shots at the building all day long in connection with payolla.
  16. In fact that was one of the big differences, the Mecca played LP tracks, when most dj's were focused on 45's
  17. Or 'Sunshowers' and 'Chez chez la femme', what a great LP
  18. Hi Ady That's good new, as thats the same as this white test pressing, so looks like I have a real test pressing then. What I meant about the off center pressings is that many of the white test pressing, I think were later pressings, same time as the orange release.
  19. Hi All I know this must have been done a number of times, but what are all the different pressings of 'Cool Off'. I know there seemed to be several blank white test pressings. I have one with 20010, GM dist Det, Milan in the run out This one is not pressed off center like many I have seen Dave
  20. We played both at the Mecca thing Mark Freeman did a while back, hope he does another. Dave
  21. In Smithfields, it's one of what was know as the super clubs. The club is down underground it the old cellars that used to be used by the meat market. It has three rooms plus a chill out bar and most amazing sound system, one room with a stage. You don't need to book all the rooms, you could just use the room with a stage, which has a balcony and the bar area. Heres a link https://www.fabriclondon.com/
  22. Fabric is free on a monday, well used to be. Used it a few times for commercial things when I worked in london, great venue.
  23. Plus David Lenyard and The Music tree-It could have been you Jackie Beavers-Trying to get back to you girl Mandrill-Never die Oscar Perry-Main string/I got what you need Miracles-Woldo Roderick DeHammersmith(Hope I spelt that right) Weapons Of Peace-Just can't be that way Tradewinds-Strange Intrepids-After you've had your fling, get down to the real thing Love Foundation-What's the matter baby Rosey Jones-Have love will travel
  24. A few of many I liked from back then Crown Heights Affair-Dreaming a dream/Every beat of my heart John Davis Monster Orch-Up jumped the devil Ralph McDonald-Calypso breakdown Hubert Laws-Chicago theme Phase Two-First shot Third Demetion-If my heart was an open book Light Drivers-Operator Magnetic Touch-Ain't gonna be a next time Mylestones-Sexy lady Earth Wind & Fire-Happy feelin/Biyo 5 Degrees Farenheit-Just let your heart be your guide Diane Jenkins-I need you Kim Tolliver-I don't know what foot to dance on Paulette Reeves-Jazz freak Richard Popcorn Wylie-Lost time
  25. Some prices are over inflated but also concider with some that with passing years they do get harder to find. Many have gone into collections and stayed there, tastes change and what was of little interest 20/30 years ago now can set dance floors alight. Record pricing has always been emotive, we all have are own likes and dislikes or a veiw of how rare something is, this then colours our veiw of value. Example, Smith Brothers-Playbacks a drag/There can be a better way. For years I veiwed this as a great Mecca 2 sider that you used to see around a bit in the 70's, now it's veiwed as a very rare record. I would play it out occassionally, normally 'Playbacks a drag', as that was the side I remember being played most, but often to total dis-interest. Now the other side is more popular as it has that nice crossover feel. Maybe my veiw of rareity is influienced by the fact that I knew a fair few dj's that had a copy back then and over the years didn't realise that very few more appeared after the first flush of them back then. Another example being is Del Rays Incorporated-Destination Unknown. Popular in the 70's, so much so that it was re-pressed, then that type of sound fell out of favour. Languished as a £20-30 record for years, now that funky Miami sound is back in vogue and so it has seen re-activation and a major rise in value (about time to, always loved this). Now this record I always veiwed as rare, as there were never that many around, or so I thought. Anyway back to E.J. and the Echoes, I'm happy with everyones evaluation. As I said, I get confused with this groups values and which one is which, as they all sound as good as each other to me, and the label numbering adds to the confusion. Dave
