  5. Hi All For those that might be interested. George was the lead singer on 'Pyramid'. I keep in touch with George from time to time and was on the phone to him today and sadly he has not been well. He was admitted to the hospital on 11/28/09 because he was having breathing difficulties. The hospital was having trouble diagnosing him and at one point, it almost looked like he wasn't going to recover. The doctors went from congestive heart failure to emphysema to pneumonia and back again. They settled on emphysema, in addition to his other ailments. Once he was stabilized, he was transferred to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation (12/18/09) and finally returned home a couple of weeks ago. He had been quite ill, but is recovering now. He was thrilled when I told him about the 'Top Hundred Chart' being put together on here and that his record was chosen by so many in their charts. He sends his love to everyone over here on the soul scene. Dave

  10. Can't believe this post is still running. Went to the Gloucester Allnighter last night saw lots of old faces from back in the day. Leon (top mate), Karen James, Hippo, Sue and many more, a bit like old times. Great to see everyone and just 15mins from home Dave
  11. DIDN'T REALISE IT WENT BACK THAT FAR, SIMON. TO BE HONEST I LOVE THE INST VERSION, BUT VOCAL SHADES IT FOR ME BRI PINCH.
  12. I'm flogging a dead horse here He may have played a few nice tunes, he was rude the few times I tried to speak to him, and when Richard asked me to play there, he was like doctor death standing behind me at the decks. Only speak as I find. Had many a great night at Wigan that will live with me forever, met some life long friends there, Pete Lawson, Guy, Dave Withers, Tim & Butch to name but a few. The venue over all was immense and I stood and wept next to Tim doing the same as they played the last record on the first last night.
  13. Ok, Ok already, two of you ganging up on me. I was wrong on that. But............
  14. Hi Pete I've had two, when I sold the first, regretted it so got another, then was pestered to death by Gary Fields, so sold that to him, never should have done it. Dave
  15. Hi Paul Sadly Russ was one of the main instigators of much of the politics that went one at the casino, so he was very bothered about that side of it. Pete as always I bow to your knowledge.
  16. Hi Steve He may have played 'Love Music' but Richard really did champion this every where he played in the country at the time. I'm sorry to say that no end of rehabilitation will ever change his standing with me. The way he treated Richard and others towards the end of the Casino was shocking. Ego over any real content. Dave
  17. Funny one this, has been in and out of favour for some 30 years. Can't remember where it was first played, but sure this goes way back to Wheel/Torch times, was played by someone a few times at Stafford, James Trouble raved about a while back also.
  18. Morning Chris Ian Clarke used to do this as well on his lists, worked well for him Dave
  19. I remember back in the late 70's when Doo Wop was selling like no ones business a copy of 'The Five Sharps-Stormy Weather-Jubilee 5104-78rpm' that was broken clean in half, selling for $4000. Whats the most you've seen a soul record cracked in some way sell for???? Dave
  20. Yes that's one of the stock labels used on releases from Cincinnatti upto New York , there are others from round the counrty also.
  21. I know this is going off at a bit of a tangent. But there is also the issue of 'stock labels'. several different labels from one city with no know connection all having the same label design. Cincinatti had the multi coloured swirl design seen on Split records and several others. Been told by guys in the U.S. before that if you were on a tight budget you just gave the masters to the pressing plant and they would organise everything at a cheaper price. They would ask the label printers to provide a basic label and often this would involve a standard design that they had, the relevant info was then printed onto this.
  22. Hi Guys This is when I find Soul Source at it's best, when you learn something. Nothing to add, but thanks to you all. Dave
  23. This includes the now hard to find Lenard Lidell 12", Louisiana Purchase LP and the oh so rare K.I.C. 45 from Detroit. Dave
  24. Sadly another one has passed, the great Philly vocalist with The Intruders, left us a few days ago. It's been a tough year this year with so many great music men passing. Not a great suprise as it's their generations time to check out, but sad all the same. But it does make me think that if you do get a chance to see or meet people/groups from this generation, grab it as it maybe your last. Dave
  25. Hi Guys Got some nice rare 45's, 12" and LP's finishing tomorrow on the Ebay, see link https://shop.ebay.com/nomoretime10/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 Thanks For looking Dave
