  1. Unless it the scans, but the red label colour is also different
  2. I had heard the story from a good friend in New York that knows Paul. He contacted me and told me to be careful, not to pay lots of money for one. I originally asked the question in the most polite way possible, as I did not want to scream scam with out fully knowing and seeing proof. What has worried me more is that I had also heard that several people, and a couple of them well know in the UK had been trying to pass these off as first pressings. I'm sure if asked they would fall back on the old 'I didn't know' or 'They looked real to me'. But as has been stated here it is well documented that Paul has said over nearly 20 years that he has no copies, so if he starts selling them, it has to be strange. Over the years many people have done second pressings using the original stampers or just managed to get identical second prssings made, as pointed out by John Manship in another thread currently running on here. Does Paul fully understand what he is doing, hard to say. But just about everyone involved in passing them on in the UK as originals, should understand the morals or do and have chosen to ignore them. As I said, I started this thread in as polite away as possible to try and stop mis-selling. As always you pays your money and takes your choice, but better to have the knowledge to do so availble. Dave

  17. Hi Nick Yes it a nice version on Riley's, think it's in Refosoul, if not will post it later. Dave
  18. Hi Ted There is also an issue up for sale on Ebay. Listen closely to the two sound files and there are some slight tempo changes in there as well as where they have position the brass and piano in the mix. I know I have the test pressing, but I do think the this is the better version. Pays you money and takes your choice. Dave
  19. The others are legal second pressings, they have a slight bevel edge to them and on many the label logo is slightly off the edge of the label. The original have a flat edge finish and the logo is centered on the label. Also there is a slight different in the paper used for the label. Dave

  21. I know i'm a bit slow today. so if Tim was selling these back in the 90's at £50 (Issue) and £150 (Test Pressing), is this gonna sell at three times the issue:ph34r:
  22. So reading that thread, there is one less now in circulation.
  23. Yes, same as the one Brad has for sale. Dave
  24. I had the one that was on Ebay a few years back, the scan Chalks put up is the one I have, I have also seen a blank label one as well. Like all test pressing you could have 1-100+ copies depending on the size of the pressing run. But as this was only ever pressed in small numbers the corresponding number of test pressings is gonna be small, say 5 copies at most. It is slightly different, mainly in the mix, rather than a different version. Alround a very sharp, bright pressing and sounds awesome over a big system. I'd say it a rare pressing of a very good Detroit record and I wouldn't part with mine, but maybe it's a bit of a specialty item for many, when they can have an issue for much less. Dave
