  1. I believe Black Rock came first then, Grand Junction and lastly due to it's local sucess, Epic. Black Rock and Grand Junction were labels that George McGregor had a hand in, several of the Black Rock releases later came out on Grand Junction. Butch & The Newports, later appeared on GJ as The Gaslights, although in later life Butch was the only member of the original group to survive the later formations of the group, Gaslights, Gaslight. As for the Rene's record, should get palyed out more, love it.

  4. Hi Mike Your right there was a long thread on here, as Clarkie was going to sell one, don't know if he did in the end. I'm sure someone on here (mods) could find it.
  5. As it's credited to Tom King, then it will be the same as the Outsiders on Capitol & J.C. Messina on Tom King Productions
  6. Not as common as the demo, but rarest format is the blue plastic label
  7. So it looks like the issue is as common as rocking horse poo
  8. Hi Matt Thanks for the link to the other thread, so is the record by Splibe VIII , also a Detroit 45 and I guess from Carl's note it is very rare ?
  9. Sorry to be asking all these questions today, but did her version of 'These things will keep me loving you dear' come out on a 45. I have a test pressing with 'Reach out and touch' on the flip, it is credited to cat no M1165. But I thought that cat no was 'Reach out and touch/Dark side of the world
  10. Ay Up Val Seems to be much hard to find than the other pressing and as you say, nice track.
  11. I also have the yellow issue, see below. To be honest I'd never noticed until you posted this
  12. Hi Guys Anyone seen this before and/or know the story on it. Same cat no 162, but different b side 'Pusher', instead of 'Hour of your need' which you normally see.
  13. Yep, there are a few on Gemm by her, think she did two LP's
  14. Hi Benji It's a funky sleeve, have sound clips of the better tracks on my site, will put them on here when the Refro is working again.
  15. Came across this a few weeks ago in the states, it's a four track e.p. from 1974, produced by none other than Eddie Singleton. Comes with two passable dance tracks, one uptempo funky thing, the other a sixties style midtempo dancer. Vocal style is very breathy, actress, but not that bad. Cool gated hard cardboard sleeve. Anyone else ever come across this, would put up sound files, but no Refro.
  16. Do look pretty, found one in Detroit a few weeks ag. Both American Arts releases got hammered back in the day at Yate.
  17. I realised that Mark, but I had asked John to contribute last night. Cheers Dave
  18. Cheers John, knew you would come through Dave
  19. Hi Kris Lets get some other opions, before you chase anyone Cheers Dave
  20. We may need a second opion here, like Pete S. But I'm sure the Green Demo are boots. Dave
  21. The pale green originals look like this, a fair bit of difference, also came out on a gold label and white demo
  22. It is possible that is was pressed twice for the local market, due to demand they were a popular group in Columbus. I know it's a hard to find record now days, but several of the guys in the band told me both 45's and the LP, sold well in the few stores there were in the city. But I don't think it got distributed greatly out side that part of that Ohio, hense it's rarity today. Also many of the copies that do turn up are well used, so seem to come from peoples home, think John Anderson, got some of the 'I was born to love you' thats why there are a few more mint copies of that around.
  23. Hi All www.topdogrecords.co.uk Another nice bunch of stuff this week, northern, through funk to nice modern soul. Also some more of those hard to find LP's everyone liked last week, plus some cool 12" including........... 45's - Eloise Laws, Back Lash, La Que, Debbie Taylor, Fred Hughes, Citations, David Lenyard (rare ballad), Belita Woods, Ice Band, Jesse Gomez, Lee Edward & His Continentals, Patti Austin, Young Boys Band, White Family Band12" - Village Choir, Key-Matic, Gean Floyd, Dennis Ray, Johnny Bristol, Hudson PeopleLP's - Rene & Angela, Rinlaw Allstars, Johnny Griffths Inc., Idris Muhammad, Hunts Determination, Vessie Simmons, Glass TearPlus so much more over 250 new title across the site this week. Thanks for looking and hope you find something you like. Dave & Malayka
