  5. Hi Matt Check out recording by Johnny Gilliam, many of his early recordings have the X factor
  6. Just put the show on a file share site, so people can down load in. There two files, 1st and 2nd hour https://www.zshare.net/download/85355769fdd78031/ https://www.zshare.net/download/853566642a52d2c6/ Cheers Dave
  7. I don't want to sound to jingoistic, but in my memory our postal service, legal system, banking system and polictical system, were seen as the international gold stardard. Sady not any more, sad state of affairs.
  8. I see both sides, I have a very good friend who is a postie in Cannock. Not that long ago they used to love their job, enjoy going to work, now the hate every day there. For them it has never been about the money, more a job they used to really enjoy, with a little security. Now all of the things they valued have gone, sad state of affairs. On the user side, I send out packages every day, up until a year ago I was still very confident that every package would make it through. So when the odd one went missing, I would take it in my stride and just put it down to the price of running a mail order business. But now I dread sending records, waiting for every customer to confirm they have recieved their package. The number of lost packages has increased alarmingly and is now a real cost to the business, sad state of affairs.
  9. Hi Tim Is this from the guy on Ebay. He seems to have a few, he sold one a couple of days ago and then sent out a few second offers to some friends in the states. He also offered them both correct label and reversed. He said he wouldn't ship to the UK !!!!!!! ? Cheers Dave

  14. First hour gone, not to many gaffs!!!!!!!!!!! Dave & Malayka 'Soul People' 10am-12noon GMT. www.solarradio.com . Nice show 60's to today, soulful grooves and a few cool un-released things thrown in. Hope some of you can tune in.
  15. Loads of gaffs Steve, wouldn't be the same without them
  16. Many of the guest put up file shares on another site with 'Modern' in it's name , the main web does have some pod casts to listen again, check that. But you can stream live on the day through the stations site or there is a itunes ap, what ever that means
  17. Hi Mark This in the main was an enjoyable time, with Butch in the northern room playing some killa stuff, and a banging modern room. But it was also a time of lots of politics, people not coming because this person didn't like that person, venue wars etc, in the end it pretty well put stop to my interest in running events. But the modern room was a real joy, with Dj's as well as the ones you have mention above, Soul Sam, Cliff Steel, Andy Witmore even had Jonathan on one time. Big tunes from the like of Frankie Knuckles, BMU, Sounds Of Blackness, George Benson & Roy Ayres (Nu Yorcian Soul), Ann Nesby, Mary J Blige, Aretha Franklin, Terry Ronald, Rodney Mannsfield, Andre De Lange, Sunshine Anderson to name but a few.
  18. We don't have a regular one, but are on the excellent 'Soul People' - Solar Radio this sunday, 10am-12am. This grew out of the highly acclaimed Sunday Soul Selection - Shaun Robbins show. Guest presenters ever week, which provides a dynamic varied selection of cool soul music. https://www.solarradio.com/sunday.aspx See site profile below..... Playing the Best/Rarest and In-demand 70s, Modern Soul, Crossover, plus Classic 60s & 70s Floor-Fillers. From initially what was known as a quiet spot on Sunday mornings on Solar, the dedication that Shaun Robbins put in to his 'Sunday Soul Selection' made the show essential listening giving us 5 years of fantastic soul music. By the time Shaun stepped down in May 2009 the show had become one of the most successful in Solar Radio's history. The search then began for someone who could carry the mantle forward and make sure the quality of the music would continue. Head honcho Kenny Mac from 'True Soul' was approached: "I was a bit apprehensive at first because of the success of Shaun's show and the following he had created all over the UK and Europe I approached Steve Jeffries from RareNorthenSoul.com who knows everyone who is anyone in the soul scene. We then came up with a name 'Soul People' to play to people who enjoy quality black modern and crossover soul music. After a bit of a shaky start the rest they say is history! The Soul People shows have gone from strength to strength and now stand out as one of the most popular and successful radio shows on Solar along with its sister show 'True Soul'. In Steve Jeffries words "We will continue pushing the boundaries for quality soul music." The final word goes to Kenny Mac: 'Every Sunday on Soul People with the fantastic DJ rosta we have now, we get the most amazing response worldwide'
  19. Well, recorded the show today at Gloucester FM, big thanks to Jerry and the crew for letting us use the studio there. Pretty happy with it, think you'll all like, a diverse mix of things, 60's through 70's and 80's. A few un-released things, lesser know and some simple stunners. Hope you can listen in, thanks for all the emails of support, been awhile since we've been on the airwaves. Dave & Malayka

  22. Came from the late Andrew Smith in Detroit, session drummer at Motown he also worked with Denis Coffey and Tom Moulton. They were a project of his, not sure who the vocalist is though.
  23. Bugger me, I need my ears cleaning; it is. So mystery solved it's Carl Carlton. Funny how the mind plays tricks on you, I was sold it by a guy as a unknown female track, so when it arrived I listen to it exspecting a female singer, and heard one. Also did all my web searches based upon that belief. Just found me a nice demo sitting on the shelf, feel even more of a fool now. Thanks Alan Dave
  24. That would be the Andrew Smith acetate, maybe ? will dig it out andrew smith - dreaming of a brighter day - sounde patterns andrew smith - when you came into my life - sound patterns
