  1. Stunning picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Hi there & thanks for reading this=0) . I am holding a Northern Soul Mini Niter on Saturday the 3rd of May 8pm-3am.Putting The 'Northern' & the'' Soul' back into Manchester ( & yes I known it's not an All Nighter but it is 7 hours of Soul ,given most niters are 8 hours I think it's pretty good going) It's a fund raising event for the venue. The venue itself was build 1901/2 is & originally called the 'Hulme Hippodrome' then known later has the 'Playhouse Theatre' now known as the Niamos Centre. Address; Nia Centre,Chichester Road ,Hulme. Manchester .M15 5EU. It's situated behind 'Hulme Garden Centre'. For me it's got 'Northern Soul' written all over it. It doesn't look like much from the outside ,but once inside it's got that old music hall look similar to Wigan Casino (although very much a lot smaller) or indeed Bradford Queen's Hall (again but on a smaller scale). It's got a nice wooden dance floor (Strictly No Drinks or Talc on the Dance Floor) & balcony's. It's worth visiting the website & having a look at the photos you can see what I am getting at www.niamos.co.uk. The music policy will be 'right across the board' Classic & Under played Northern, Motown, Newies , Cross Over & Modern. Hopefully something to please everyone on the Rare/Northern Soul Scene. So far myself will djing ,Connor White from 'Room At the Top' (Manchester's Mini Allnighter in the Northern Quarter) . I am waiting for a couple of other confirmations & will up date. Tickets available online thru 'Skiddle' £8.50 early bird ticket , £10 after or pay on the door. If successful we will have future events . We ask upon leaving the venue that noise is kept down as it is a residential area .Please feel free to ask any Questions. More information to come what this space

  4. Thank you for letting me ,very much appreciated=0)
  5. Magic=0) Love looking at this old clippings/adverts for 'Nights' particularly like the silhouette picture/image for the ' Ritz Entertainment Club, Skewen'. Such a simple image but evocative of the times & atmosphere a sort of '2 in the morning -Spooners Crowd vibe'. Thank you for sharing=0)
  6. Wow!!!!!!! What Glorious times where to be had in the sixties. I would have LOVED to see some of the bands you mentioned back in the day... Magic=0)
  7. Nice clip thanks for sharing=0)
  8. Enjoyed reading your 'write up' about forgotten Mod & Soul Nights . Love hearing about these places & the history behind them. The pictures/newspaper/magazine cuttings are great as well, adding a bit more dimension to your 'piece' . Thank you for sharing =0)
  9. Some lovely pictures. I like the one above this one. Thank you for sharing=0)
  10. Good on you for sussing this 'person' out & exposing them. Thanks for sharing=0)
  11. I don't know if anyone as looked on youtube (or another music/video site)for these versions. Then post either a link or the actual video on here. Sorry, I don't know how do that, just a suggestion that 'might move' the Pat Lewis, Terri Bryant conversation along.=0)
  12. Not sure if the top photo is sunrise or sunset , whatever it is ,it's Magical . Sunlight on water Beautiful=0).
  13. Hi there, in reply to your question ,'Is there a strange place these days'. I would say yes there is a 'strange place' to hear Norther/Rare Soul as a opposed to 'Soul' music. Just stating the obvious with Northern/Rare Soul being a bit more niche.
  14. Beautiful & Epic are the 2 adjectives that come to mind. Thank you for sharing such stunning images=0).
  15. Just ordered the album yesterday=0) looking forward to listening to it. Thank you Soul Source for making me aware of such releases. For me it's worth buying for the Anderson Brothers.=0)
  16. Your Knowledge about Rare/Northern Soul amazes me. I have read some of your other posts. If there was such a thing as a Phd in the subject you would have one. I'm sure people on this site have mentioned you should write a book ; I concur. I guess like most things in life it's having the time & energy do it. Although I would guess all of your posts on this site would make up a book. Thank you for sharing
  17. Very well stated. I feel your passion & the Love of Northern coming thru loud & clear. I feel for you that you can't go. It feels like 'Cleethorpes' as left a deep impression on you.
  18. There's a one on Discogs.com for £33.39.
  19. I am assuming your referring to the Queen's Hall Niters? I absolutely Loved the Niters I went to there. Sprung dance floor & balcony . There was a Modern room down the stairs, if my memory serves me well. Never spend any real amount of time in there .The main room was the place to be, for me at the time Great Tunes ,fantastic Atmosphere. Some people told me it was also like a mini 'Wigan'? I remember one particular Niter a pair of 'newly weds' showed up you know full wedding dress suited & booted as they say =0) Oh yeh , I am just remembering going & they had just started a ban on talc! (years ahead of the curve lol)
  20. Wow!!!!! Thanks for telling me that ,so looking forward to it now. =0) happy days=0)
  21. Thanks for that Mike. It's a appreciated .Cheers =0)
  22. Thanks for sharing your 'Soul Music/ DJ Journey'. You've encapsulated it well. Love reading how others got into Northern/Rare Soul & R'n'b . There's a few sounds on your top 5 spins I'm not familiar with, well 3 to be extract ; I'll check those out. Better still I am hoping to attend 'Room At the Top' & hear them in the best possible setting. Many thanks=0)
  23. I was at the 'Unity Festival' ( a family/ community/ out door event/ fun day) in Chorlton Park (Manchester) Saturday afternoon Approx 15-20 years ago . The dj or whoever was playing the music wasn't playing anything that got my attention. I guessing 'run of the mill' Pop or whatever. Seeming out of nowhere I heard the Flirtations 'Nothing But A Heartache' . The music was booming all over the Park & sounded fantastic=0).
  24. Wow!!! What a brilliant Record. Never heard it before. The slow start is great. That break down at 1.09 min was completely unexpected. Love the Funky Guitar, Brass backing & Backing vocals. Johnny D vocal performance is on power too, reminds me of a cross between James Carr & Roy Hamilton. It's one of records that gets better has it goes along. Good to know that there's still sounds out there that can still ' light you up '. Thank you for posting=0)
  25. My mistake ...Thanks for pointing that out. I doubt very much they got a sprung dance like the Ritz? Anyone been there before? What's the dance floor like? Any info greatly appreciated=0)
