  1. Beautiful & Epic are the 2 adjectives that come to mind. Thank you for sharing such stunning images=0).
  2. Just ordered the album yesterday=0) looking forward to listening to it. Thank you Soul Source for making me aware of such releases. For me it's worth buying for the Anderson Brothers.=0)
  3. Your Knowledge about Rare/Northern Soul amazes me. I have read some of your other posts. If there was such a thing as a Phd in the subject you would have one. I'm sure people on this site have mentioned you should write a book ; I concur. I guess like most things in life it's having the time & energy do it. Although I would guess all of your posts on this site would make up a book. Thank you for sharing
  4. Very well stated. I feel your passion & the Love of Northern coming thru loud & clear. I feel for you that you can't go. It feels like 'Cleethorpes' as left a deep impression on you.
  5. There's a one on Discogs.com for £33.39.
  6. I am assuming your referring to the Queen's Hall Niters? I absolutely Loved the Niters I went to there. Sprung dance floor & balcony . There was a Modern room down the stairs, if my memory serves me well. Never spend any real amount of time in there .The main room was the place to be, for me at the time Great Tunes ,fantastic Atmosphere. Some people told me it was also like a mini 'Wigan'? I remember one particular Niter a pair of 'newly weds' showed up you know full wedding dress suited & booted as they say =0) Oh yeh , I am just remembering going & they had just started a ban on talc! (years ahead of the curve lol)
  7. Wow!!!!! Thanks for telling me that ,so looking forward to it now. =0) happy days=0)
  8. Thanks for that Mike. It's a appreciated .Cheers =0)
  9. Thanks for sharing your 'Soul Music/ DJ Journey'. You've encapsulated it well. Love reading how others got into Northern/Rare Soul & R'n'b . There's a few sounds on your top 5 spins I'm not familiar with, well 3 to be extract ; I'll check those out. Better still I am hoping to attend 'Room At the Top' & hear them in the best possible setting. Many thanks=0)
  10. I was at the 'Unity Festival' ( a family/ community/ out door event/ fun day) in Chorlton Park (Manchester) Saturday afternoon Approx 15-20 years ago . The dj or whoever was playing the music wasn't playing anything that got my attention. I guessing 'run of the mill' Pop or whatever. Seeming out of nowhere I heard the Flirtations 'Nothing But A Heartache' . The music was booming all over the Park & sounded fantastic=0).
  11. Wow!!! What a brilliant Record. Never heard it before. The slow start is great. That break down at 1.09 min was completely unexpected. Love the Funky Guitar, Brass backing & Backing vocals. Johnny D vocal performance is on power too, reminds me of a cross between James Carr & Roy Hamilton. It's one of records that gets better has it goes along. Good to know that there's still sounds out there that can still ' light you up '. Thank you for posting=0)
  12. My mistake ...Thanks for pointing that out. I doubt very much they got a sprung dance like the Ritz? Anyone been there before? What's the dance floor like? Any info greatly appreciated=0)
  13. Thank you for bringing this up Pete. I feel it's a potentially difficult to talk about drug use whether it's past or present because it's demonized in 'our' society to use illegal substances or indeed some legal substances/ prescription drugs for example Dexedrine( I guessing that's not made any more but I couldn't think of another one off the top of my head). Therefore it can make it difficult to talk about. There's no doubt that drugs both legal & illegal have had a profound effect on many 'Music Cultures'. an obvious example is LSD in the sixties, which I believe was legal up until 1964 (?) in the USA.... Mods in the sixties used some form of amphetamine( pep pills, purple hearts ,black bombers etc) at all night clubs. Northern grew out of the Mod culture. Northern Soul & Amphetamine go together like a hand in a glove. Speed gives you energy, focus & at times feelings of Euphoria. Ideal for Northern Soul. The potential problem is you cannot take 'Speed' every week for decades without a negative impact on your 'HEALTH'. Although there's always exception to the rule. Some of 'us' are just made of different stuff-'cast iron constitution/s ' For me personally if you don't have your HEALTH you don't have nothing. Without trying to sound patronising if you don't feel well your not going to want to go to an niter, dayer or Soul nite; even if you did go out it would be hard to enjoy it. Please Note in no way, shape or form I am telling people what they should or should not do. I agree a lot with others have stated that to put it crudely the aging process impacts on your energy & stamina. Something you need if you want to enjoy an niter without chemical assistance. Then there's the recovery period . Even without doing speed or whatever it takes a longer time to recover from an niter.
  14. I only ever attended one of the Ritz Rarest of the Rare Allnighters. It was Easter Weekend 1999(? I think). Fantastic Music, Great Atmosphere & that dance floor is 1 st class . Excellent Niter . Looking forward to the Alldayer in April. Yes I know it's not a Niter, but the combination of that place & Northern Soul is just Magic=0)!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thanks so much for that Mike your a Star=0)
