I got to thinking "if you had your chance to be in a music studio when putting one record together, what would the record be. Mine would be. If I could only be sure - Nolan Porter-ABC RECORDS 1972.with the Guitar Riffs and Piano work ;;; That must have been some session. Saw him do it at Richard Searling gig at Summer in the park at The Dunkenhalgh hotel. Accrington. Hairs on the back of your neck tune. Rod Clegg
  5. I mix Vinegar and fairy liquid together ! and then using my ex army bulling finger, I rub it in then wash off with warm water. Making shaw not to get water on label, then buff up with soft velvet cloth. works a treat to get crap out. Rod
  6. Thanks Tony, still learning on IPad. As for the wood glue! A record shop owner in Rotterdam told me that they leave it on till it sets, then they peel it of with the debris, he did tell me that it worked. It's got to be water based glue. Rod
  7. Here's the 1976 Ronco Record -Vacuum. I havn't used this to clean my pride and joys, bought it at a car boot few years ago. Rod Clegg Can't turn bloody photos, can anyone help?
  8. We live In hope Toad, all I know is my lad came to love the music, He has a great collection of northern soul (not bootlegs),Ran a well respected Charity event for the last six years! Just by coming with me to Cala Gran in the 90 s. I would love to see more Youth out there. Winnie puts it down in print well.Rod
  9. With the film Northern Soul on the way ( which I will pay to go and see) I would think that things will get worse before they get better with people coming to give us a once over. but I am hoping that we can attract new blood with love for this great music of ours, Where not getting any younger Are we? Rod
  10. You can only buy, Marvin Gaye's / Little Darling on Tamla for me, or you miss them Fantastic strings that aren't on the British. From those days of pinching TMG's records from my Sister! I've been hooked on Motown. But over the years I have replaced most of the British for the US copies, they our good enough to hang on the wall and just look at. Rod

  13. Great memory's, down to a tee shirt in main room; then on with the wooly hat and coat for the tent. Couldn't last more than half an hour at a time, some nice tunes played in there. Rod
  14. Steve plumb EX Orwell DJ, has got a So Soulful night at the RAFA club Leyland . Next one on the 19Th. April then once a month. Not the Orwell I know, but music is 70s magic with good guest DJs. Rod
  15. In early 2000 at the Cala Gran Togetherness Weekender, they had a small marque at back of the amusements, you could call it a chill out room! You would be right is was cool alright, but the music was some of the best soul music I've ever heard. Did Richard Searling and Co ever put out any LPs or CDs that reflect the tunes at the time. Rod
  16. Darrell Banks for me, what passion, what a bloody double header. Top draw. Rod.
  17. Hey Matt, Your bob on mate! Must have got wires crossed. Original doesn't have to be Rare or Expensive as you know, just think if DJs only played the real thing (British or American ) cheap or deer in sets,; how varied the music could be.Thousands to go at. Rod
  18. Matt, CDs and Downloads do have a place for sure, In your car or home. why would you want to play CDs at a Venue of a retro scene.
  19. Steve, I think that's what I was getting too. The word ORIGNAL being the missing word. After putting charity events on for six years I wasn't to bothered what they played from, as long as we made money for the named charity's. But if I was to pay DJ's for none charity events I would expect the real deal as near as possible. My thoughts. Rod
  20. Bearsy, good response mate, I just seem to think that if someone puts 100% Vinyl on a flyer! They hope that would be enough to tempt New Soulies looking for an authentic venue to go to with Northern Soul Cred.Rod
  21. When A promoter puts 100% Vinyl on his flyers, Is this to say that they don't play CDs Or play from Laptops or is the a bit of a deception from what they are playing. Rod
  22. Nice piece SHEFFSOUL, Good to get an inside look at the pitfalls and heartache of film production. I wish Elaine and her team the best of luck with the film. Rod
  23. Great story Mick, Herman Griffin's Dance Time on the Groovesville cd, would fit in with the kind of Northern tracks keeping the dance floors busy at the moment! Do you know if Dance Time got a release. Rod
  24. Two great CDs, with rare Detroit Sounds that you could die for. Rod.Sorry I do need to work on my I pad skills
  25. Northern Jorden, We where all young once" I think, I've met you and your friends and have been impressed with your Attitude out there. Here's me hoping that we would move the Soul Scene forward and not die a death, So to all you young guns- KEEP ON KEEPING ON. Rod
