  7. Hi Derek, the owner gave your name by the looks of it to the promoter, they do this some times as to keep the promoter on side as to think ( Your a two a penny thing ) As you know we ran the mill for six years, and in that time we where told all in sunderee wanted to move in on us. Normally after you have asked for a drinks promotion/ or room discount. The promoter will have put two and two together, checked you out ' and found you had run a successful event at Bury Masonic. He flapped by the looks of it ( not making excuses for him ) I'm sorry it gets to this stage mate, see you and Sheila at Wellingborough. Rod Clegg

  12. Hey! we look at the younger guys possible playing boots and pressings. But what about adults playing double headers as the norm. You would think they would no better, home is the place for them. Should have a sign on them;; not to be played in public. Sorry but that's my take on it.Rod

  15. I suppose this THREAD could run and run, we all had to start somewhere. but I do know at the age of 15+ in the early 70s; A lot of the records I purchased from Mail order lists /Venues/etc. turned out to be boots and pressings, and it didn't seem to important at that time, after resuming my love for the music years later (Army/ Wife/ Kids/ House/Car) it took me a long time to understand the importance to replace those records for the real deal! but that's what you do, improve as you go on. It can be expensive we all know to buy the in-demand tunes, but there's some great records out there for a lot less money. With the Internet to buy and being able to listen to so many sounds on youtube. it's a great time for the young up in coming DJ's to put there own Input on the scene.Just do it. Rod
  16. GIRL ACROSS THE STREET--MOSES SMITH. Easy one to be fooled by.ROD
  17. Last record we played at the last Soulchoons at the Mill. IT'S ALL OVER-CHARLES MANN. But then played another 45 mins as we couldn't clear the dance floor, two at the end where HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS-BOBBY WOMACK +WHERE DO WE GO WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER- ARCHIE BELL& THE DRELLS. ROD
  18. A few years ago a mate of mine gave me some Northern Records he had bought back In the 70s. after going through them! I found most were either Pressing/ boots, but one that had me checking the Manships Guide was Eddie Parker's- Love You Baby on Ashfofd with a large ARCHER Stamp I was made up to find it was original. One of the other 45s was a Deep red / poor quality sounding boot of Duke Browner-- Crying over you- on Impact. A Duke Browner boot went on Ebay last week and was at £100+ The last time I looked? Sold as a second press. It's a bloody mine field out there and some people are just not bothered. Rod

  23. A few years ago I came across a copy of Sam Cooke's you send me on Black / Silver London on a 78 rpm. about 10 inch in size and a heavy duty Shellat. It got me thinking ! is there any big pre 1960s soul records on 78 rpm, and is the a market out there. I don't have the record now as it had a crack in it. Rod Clegg.
