JUST A NOTE TO THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW DEAN JOHNSON
Triode replied to dean jj's topic in All About the SOUL
All the best Dean -
She was originally named Doris Curry apparently, One of her very best recordings came out on the super rare "Hi-Monty" (NY) label with backing vocals by the Lost Souls (Glasco)

Extremely obscure Australian Release of this Motown floor filler in Ex + condition with perfect labels The Velvelettes - These things will keep me loving you - Australian Tamla Motown Promotional Sample.
-
Wrong font specifically the "O" and "R" stand out, also appears to have anti slip raised border? But the big give away is the paper colour, I would give it 3 out of 10 - must try harder!
-
Mr Darker - hope your well, surprised you never picked up the Doris Duke & friends LP when it was a stock item at Expansions records when situated on Corporation Street in Manchester, distinctly recall Richard plugging it for a tenner in the 90's when I acquired my copy. That specific album did feature Tyrone Davies " Running a losing game" that came out on Sack has did the the Mamie P Galore " No Right to Cry" neither appeared to have any connection with Doris Duke?. I too have a few of the BBC radioplay Motown albums featuring from memory Syreeta and Brenda Holloway these were rescued from a BBC station in Shropshire who ditched their entire record library. BTW looking forward to the Rudy Love documentary Paul

Chris Jackson 'Forever I’ll Stay With You' Soul City
Triode replied to Ady Croasdell's topic in Look At Your Box
Is Chris Jackson still about? personally I agree the Van McCoy connection is the most likely. -
Full credit to Butch who first played it on unissued acetate covered as "The Butlers" I think? Butch obtained it from legendary Philly producer the late Billy Jackson, I was in contact with Mr Jackson a few years later regarding a scheduled CD release ( that was shelved? ) Billy stated that he had produced the "Think it over" recording and that it was made by a group named "The Cheers" interestingly an anagram of The Chesterfields ? Amazing to think this recording lay unknown especially has a many collectors/dealers had been in contact with Billy Jackson in previous years and with the Yvonne Baker connection. A superb recoding whatever the group name or producer credits.

News about a sponsored walk taking place to raise money for Bolton Hospice In memory of: John Treharne Lewis (Louis) John Lewis aka long time Soul Source member @Louis who sadly passed on recently "TEAM LOUIS EXUS TREK" Event: Midnight Memories Walk 2017, 17 Jun 2017 The last few weeks of Johns' life were spent in Bolton Hospice where he received amazing care and support from all the staff. This kindness and support also helped his family and friends at a difficult time. His family are taking part in a sponsored midnight walk raising money for the hospice so they can continue to offer the same care and dignity to others in need. Any donations will be gratefully received. Thank you, The Lewis https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Jo-Lewis10 Luther Ingram Orchestra - Exus Trek

Steve hope your keeping well! ......I suggest you speak to Phil Dick, of course Dave Goddin was responsible for the original UK series, Phil for the second ( label address Shipley )and from memory Kev Roberts for the third series , On your test press the address at the top of the label states Monmoth St, London the same as Dave Goddins original label?? so you can make your own conclusion regarding any smoke and mirrors A brilliant record BTW........
