Mike I remember this radio show it was Mike Shafts "Takin care of Business" on Piccadilly Radio Manchester featured Russ, Richard, Gerry Marshall & Dave Evison maybe others ? recall Gerry Marshall telling Dave to shut up or similar! yes it got heated and thinking now it may have been more than one show Mike Shaft still broadcasts in Manchester so he may have a copy? I too would like to hear it again Triode

  8. I agree with comments regarding advance copies to people who will plug them, and if individuals don't plug certain items simply don't send them further copies! I am a big fan of a lot of the unissued tape discoveries ie. Alexander Patton, Dave Hamilton, Pied Piper etc etc and I have had carvers made in the past of certain items so that I can play them....of course always giving credit to Kent etc but I think it would be more structured if the record companies did this themselves ......perhaps on a subscription bases? Though I guess many would disagree....
  9. It may be worth trying Ian Cunliffe he had one for sale a few weeks back at Stubshaw great record.....
  10. I can highly recommend the aluminium centres from fellow soul source member Ray Mahoney I bought a couple of of him they are the perfect size and top quality! triode
  11. "I didn't miss out on the vibe or the incredible music I just didn't get off the train at Wigan, but stayed on the train to continue with the vibe and incredible music for 40 plus years................" Louis the above quote just about sums up this entire debate perfectly for me.
  12. To me that appears to be a west coast styrene copy? looks fine to me but couldn't be certain without seeing it in the flesh....
  13. Here you go Barry Mr Chuck Jackson live at the Morecambe Central Pier All-Nighter the actual photos are good quality ( I've got about half a dozen) if you need them I can scan them for you Barry these are just quick pictures with my phone Paul
  14. Also is it not a different mix to the first/original calla release......
  15. Perhaps we need a new category in the S.S. Hall of fame? " the most Anorak question ever " I cannot recall reading one better than this, although the Salvadors thread came close...... good luck with that bit of wind and rain Dave
  16. Hi Pete I picked up one of these a few months back, great sound quality but I thought it strange there is no writing or publishing credits ? in fact nothing apart from song titles and artists names?........very strange!
  17. Sounds like a couple of great releases from "The Soul Master" I hope they sell really well .......a little surprised "Time" & "If my heart could tell the story" are not included Triode
  18. I found it rather sad there was not one mention of one of the true gentlemen of the scene - Soul Sam? I know he has not been well recently & I hope he is back doing what he does soon, As far as the erasing of history ie. rare soul in the "80's & 90's" I'm not in the slightest bit surprised after all there was no "corporate" big bucks to be made at that time so the big boys had moved on to new more profitable pickings only to return when the cash cow called! all that is fine by me they are business men first ........... but not saviours of the scene.
  19. Think you are correct Chalky "Manchester Tiffs" was the venue that most of the first wave of unreleased Motown acetates were first spun via Dave Withers and Rod Shard from memory causing quite a buzz ! I wasn't there but recall everybody was talking about it at the time, this would make it a couple of years after wigan.
  20. Thanks for the link excellent stuff enjoyed it very much. Triode
  21. This track "I got it bad (and that ain't good)" was certainly played in the mid eighties at the Central Pier All-Nighter Morecambe and only available on the album from memory? U.A. (UK) Veep (USA)
  22. I had a Bellsound acetate of "Let me render my service" c/w Adam and Eve both alternative versions than the released cuts can't remember who it went to, but at the time there was a few with different variations plus a Ron Baxter "This is it" studio acetate the original source being I think producer Sammy Lowe? the guy with all the answers is on here so over to you..........
