Hello Does anyone out there have still have copies of any VftS? I'm quite keen to find a copy in which I recall Soul Sam penned a kind of state of the nation type article. Perhaps RD's magazines have become prized collectors items themselves? Stuart

Very well thanks Nick, I hope you are well also. 86-89 does seem to be the forgotten period and perhaps we can feel the better for it. Genuinely underground, progressive musically, and perhaps the final chapter of the first volume of the northern soul story. After 1990 social and technological changes meant things would never be the same. Don't know of a top 5 from the period has been done on here but here are mine. More down than up at the time. Loved the atmosphere in both rooms, I've never been to a better nighter. That might have something to do with been 18 at the time. Have a got a tape somewhere must dig it out. Do people think a reunion / aniversary event would be well attended? I suppose finding a suitable venue would be the difficulty.

It's not easy to create something transformative in this way. I agree with others that your attempt hasn't worked. Good luck with any future attempts you may make.

Hello All I'm keen to learn of any (relatively) contemporary artists that are making music that soul fans believe maintain and build upon the heritage of the most creative soul music era of the 60's and 70's. So far I've found a limited number of recent releases (For example some tracks by Cody ChesnutT and Kylie Auldist fit the bill. Are others finding anything from current artists that would stand up to scrutiny against the giants of the past? Stuart
