  1. Surprised to hear it wasn't easy to shift, I've hardly ever seen it for sale. Remember seeing the Virtue acetate in Butch's sales box at Shotts. They are both cracking records, but different leagues in rarity as I see it and cause I'm biased to the Arctic sound H+B much more desirable to me. Delreys is going up and up, vogue like you say I'd agree
  2. Put me down for any of the usual outraged cliches for the Delreys Inc. Honey and the Bees was low for the way John's auction goes. If I could have swopped my Delreys Inc for that Arctic killer of a tune I would have been amazed!
  3. A reasonable assesment surely!!

Nice one, I'll need to dig that tape out, sure he says first time out on it. Remember Jim Tennent brought half dozen or so copies back from the States later on that year.

Dave Charles was first time out by Butch at Blackburn c/u as Dave Charles, double bluff! Still got the tape of Butch's spot I recorded that night.

Never ever use nail polish remover! Found that out one night when I was "full of enthusiasm" and ended up burning an inch of grooves flat on a nice demo of Patti and the Emblems "little things you do". Stupid not trying it on something crap first!

"You had to hurt someone" side of Ralph Graham was played c/u as Gene Mcdaniels. Colin played that side before "Sits there".

There was a 10" April Blackwood acetate I had from Rob M he called Chris Bartley,"My heart still belongs to you". Presume that went from Jim to Rob with the others. Think I sold it to Alan Coney.

If Jimmy Burns is £40, then I'll have 2 please!!
  14. Sold my issue for more than that in 92 or 93!
  15. Legend indeed big Rob. We were lucky enough to have him as a regular at our soul night at the Claremont for a couple of years. He really was appreciated for those epic tunes by the crowd and he enjoyed playing the place cause people were eager to hear his latest acetates and cover ups. Great times and great records. Used to be amazed when he would turn up with the records all loose in a sports bag! A top guy at top time on the scene .

My copy of the golden eye boot has crap sound quality, pressed off centre maybe. All time favourite instrumental for me. So atmospheric you can nearly smell it!!

You only paid 320 moxey, some you win mate!
  18. The acetate Charlie has is a 60s original Audiodisc. Alternative take of the Resist issue but only very slightly different, you need to listen to them together to hear the difference. Some nice studio comments written on the label too, always like those as it gives a connection to the recording session imo.

Looking for a copy in at least ex condition. Not expecting it for free or wanting to pay for anybodys holidays so lets call it £120? PM's please, Cheers, Mark.
  21. An epic record indeed around the allanton era, a proper allnighter tune with great mystique from that C/U name. A record i always associate with allanton. Be interesting to hear Pat's response to Chalkys email because i recall being suprised reading Pat had played it c/u as billy watkins at wigan. I read that when i knew what it was ywars after colin had uncovered it. Cant be sure where i read that but am pretty sure it was in a list of old cover ips and what they turned out to be. ..so whats the word from pat?

  23. If i started all over again collecting then first 2 records i would buy would be maxine brown wand tracks, let me give you my lovin and one in a million. Two of the best tunes you can get at any price.

Know what you mean, brilliant as it is ending with the big mid tempo numbers, but used to love Guy's "altrnative" ender on occasion at Blackburn, "Rat Race"... sent us up the M6 gagging for more when the night ended on that horn blast!!
